The parent action planning workshop was very successful last week and the information gathered is valued for the development of our Audit Action Plan. Some parents requested an evening session; this will be held at the next P&C meeting on Monday 25 th May at 6:30pm. Parents and community partners are encouraged to come along for this session to have input into this valuable planning session. I will then be workshopping with my supervisor the following day drafting our Action Plan for the next 18 months. There will be major facilities works occurring within our Junior Secondary wing over the next holidays. The asbestos is being totally removed from ‘C’ block and whilst the sheeting is removed, new air conditioners and data point wiring will be installed and finally internal and external painting of this building is expected to be completed at this time. The Home Ec and ‘F’ block will also be externally painted also during these holidays. The new external colour scheme (that of the Library and the new toilet block) will start to phase through the school and due to finance allocations will take a couple of years until all buildings are painted the new colours. We look forward to these works enhancing our Junior Secondary learning environment. SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE

BEHAVIOUR The school rule focus for week three and four are to speak respectfully to others and to report any problems. Students throughout Term Two have demonstrated excellent effort towards upholding the Baralaba State School rules. We would like to congratulate the students completing NAPLAN this week on their persistence, work ethic and outstanding effort. They should all be extremely proud of their efforts over the three days. Food for thought…

YEAR 4 UPDATE In English, the Year 4 class has been working hard to improve their story writing. Starting with a simple sentence, students have added noun groups, verb groups, adjectival clauses and direct speech to make their sentence more interesting. The original sentence was ‘The tiger came from behind the bushes.’ These are the amazing sentences that have been created. Long ago in a jungle, the tiger that was really kind, carefully came from behind the blueberry bushes. In the distance, he saw a beautiful ginger cat named Ginger. “Hello, what is your name?” asked the tiger very quietly. “My name is Ginger’, replied the cat. Mikayla Proefke A long, long time ago in a forest, the beautiful, happy tiger who was running from a dog, came unhappily from behind the huge, sharp bushes. In the distance he saw a giant green bird. “What is that in the distance?” asked the tiger quietly. “I am a bird”, replied the bird. Teera Comalatti A long, long time ago, the powerful handsome tiger who had a blind eye came fiercely from behind the prickly bushes in the huge forest. In the distance, he saw a little vicious rabbit. “What’s your name little rabbit?” asked the tiger curiously. “Are you going to eat me?” replied the rabbit nervously. Efrem Gela

A long time ago in japan, the beautiful tiger came from behind the strong, prickly bushes, licking his tongue. In the distance he saw a kangaroo licking a baby joey. “Hello, what is your name?” asked the tiger happily. Steven Bounghi A long, long time ago, near a lake in Africa, the magical tiger, came from behind the fluffy, prickly bushes licking his mouth. In the distance he saw a little girl with a purple dress on. Her name was Dakota. “Hi, you have a beautiful dress”, whispered the tiger quietly. “Thank you kind tiger”, replied Dakota. Adrianne Barry A long, long time ago near the Nile River, the strong tiger who was hungry came from behind the sharp, green bushes. In the distance, he saw a cheetah who was very mean. His name was Brax. “Why are you here?” asked the tiger curiously. “I am here because I am hungry”, replied Brax. Charlie Sainsbury A long, long time ago in Japan, the fierce tiger who was licking his lips came sneakily from behind the magical bushes. In the distance he saw a humungous, scaly dinosaur called Jackosaurus. “Hello, what do you have on your mouth?” demanded the tiger nervously. “It’s blood from a pterodactyl”, answered Jackosaurus. Rondello Comolatti Long, long ago in the Amazon, the hungry, angry tiger who was licking his lips, came ferociously from behind the sharp, prickly bushes. In the distance he saw a handsome boy called D’Shaun. “Yo. What you doin?”asked the tiger curiously. “I’m just rappin”, D’Shaun replied happily. D’Shaun Evans
