OVERVIEW OF THE LOCAL AREA

The area offers a range of housing options that suit first home buyers through to

retiree. It has become a very self-sufficient area to live in with great housing options

that suit every style and need plus a great range of school options. This combined

with a huge amount of local employment opportunities can mean the possibility of

not having to do the peak hour drive to work every day. Saving time, money and

SUBURBS _________________________________________________________

WARNER The origin of the name Warner is from an early civilian surveyor by the name of

James Warner. Lots of parks, playground equipment and 3 manmade lakes have

been created at the heart of Warner Lakes, specifically for residents. Warner boasts

over 10 neighbourhood parks and counting, plus kilometres of walking and bike

paths throughout the community. Warner gives your family space to make the most

of an active, outdoors lifestyle. Buses connect you to local railway stations &

shopping centres

_________________________________________________________

CASHMERE The origin of the suburb name is from an early property owner by the name of James

Cash. There are still old easements in the area allowing for cows to pass through the

streets. Cashmere is what I would call a boutique suburb with a mix of traditional and

larger blocks plus acreage allotments for those wishing to make a tree change.

Cashmere was mentioned in a Courier Mail article as one of Brisbane’s top 10

liveable suburbs. Cashmere is bounded to the north by Lake Samsonvale and is

located west of Warner. Drop in and have a Coffee at Taste Buds at the entrance to

IGA Cashmere

BRAY PARK It is named after John Bray, a former Shire councillor. Founded in 1974 it offers a

range of homes from 20 to 40 year old high set’s to 2 to 20 year old lowset brick &

tile homes. Popular with first home buyers and those looking for bigger blocks of land

with block sizes being predominately over 600 SQM. You can walk or use buses to

connect you to local railway stations & shopping centres

_________________________________________________________

JOYNER The area was originally known as Harrisons Pocket before the modern day

adaptation and implementation of the name Joyner. The origin of the name Joyner is

from the Joyner family, early inhabitants in the area. Joyner is located east of Lake

Samsonvale.

It offers homes from traditional lowset brick & tile to executive styled homes. Block

sizes from 450 SQM to 2 acres blocks. Buses connect you to local railway stations &

shopping centres

_________________________________________________________

LAWNTON The origin of the suburb name is from an early property owner by the name of

Stephen Lawn. The property was acquired by Queensland Rail and was named

Lawnton. It is a suburb that offers both old & new homes on blocks ranging from 400

SQM to over 2 acres. The Lawnton industrial estate is located on the eastern side of

the railway line and offers local services and employment. You can walk or use

buses to connect you to local stations

_________________________________________________________

STRATHPINE The area now known as Strathpine was originally developed in the 1860s.The area

was known for sugar and rum production, with several sugar mills and distilleries in

the area. The area was first named Strathpine by the railways in the 1880s. The

population boomed in the 1940s when a large army camp and airfield was located in

the area.

_________________________________________________________

PETRIE The origin of the suburb name is from an early inhabitant by the name of Tom Petrie

- the township was named Petrie after his death. It has both high set and low set

brick homes generally 20 plus years of age. The Petrie on Pine estate offers newer

homes with some definitely in the executive home class. Petrie has a large number

of 1000 SQM blocks. You can walk or use buses to connect that you to the station.
