As a general rule: HISS in areas over 550˚ C, Infrasound in areas less than 550˚ C. But there are overlaps, see picture 1. If you can, try to find a schematic drawing of the boiler. It is very helpful at discussions. There will nearly always be a poster on site showing the boiler. One possibility is to take a photo of it (ask for permission first) so it can be used at discussions later. In worst case use one of below schematic views during discussion. Ask the customer to describe what kind of boiler it is: Built Year - Size (MW heat, MW power) - Fuel (Black liquor, Green liquor etc) - Number of ECO, SCR, ESP - No of Soot blowers - Brand of Soot blowers - Brand and model of DCS (ABB etc) - At what % load is the boiler operated?
