LNG Power BargeClean power for cruise ships in port
Advantages of the LNG Power Barge
• Cold ironing customised for cruise ships• Significantreductionofharmfulemissions• Silent operation • Guaranteed independent power supply• 100% maritime solution• In line with energy laws – no state taxes, grid fees etc.• Mobilityandflexibility–multi-customerconcept• Alternative use possible (industrial)
Becker Marine Systems has developed the advanced LNG Power Barge, an innovative solution for improving air quality in harbour cities by reducing emissions from cruise ships in port. It produces significantly lower emissions than the diesel engines used togenerate power on board cruise ships.
The LNG Power Barge has been shown to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% and NOX by 80% with no particulates or sulfur emissions whatsoever.Designedasaflexibleandmobilesolution, thebargesupplies power to cruise ships during the summer season and is abletooperateasafloatingpowerandheatplantinthewinter.

Becker Marine Systems has already developed further LNG Power Barge layouts like the TWOship Barge with a power output of 24 MW and the ability to supply two ships at the same time.

Grid-dependent Low capacity (city grid) 50 Hz frequency (cruise ships 60 Hz)
Grid-independent Guaranteed supply 60 Hz frequency (cruise ships) Available on demand (24/7)
The Energy Sector TriangleThe three challenges of modern power supply are to a) produce affordable power with b) lower or no emissions and c) 100% guaranteed supply on demand.
The power consumption of cruise ships is high and scheduled arrivals need a just-in-time supply. Usually the power grid capacity is too low, the frequency has to be converted into 60 Hz and national energy laws and taxes do not satisfy the needs of the international maritime sector.
The LNG Power Barge attains all three of these aims: guaranteed, affordableandcleanpower supplyondemandand in linewithnational energy laws.

Environment
HPE Hybrid Port Energy was founded by Becker Marine Systems with the objective of supplying environmentally-friendly maritime power. With its alternative power concepts, Becker Marine Systems is proving once again the company’s innovative spirit on behalf of our environment.
Becker LNG PowerPac®Clean and mobile power for the maritime industry
During layovers in port the power for container ships is currently being supplied by on-board auxiliary diesel engines using fuel oil (Marine Gas Oil, MGO). By doing so, ships account for the majority of harmful emissions in ports. With Becker LNG PowerPacs® we are creating a modern, environmentally-friendly, safe and economical option for supplying power based on LNG to container ships during layovers in port.
The Becker LNG PowerPac® is a compact unit the size of two 40-foot high cube containers, intelligently combining a gas-powered generator with an output of 1.5 Megawatts and an LNG tank in a limited amount of space. Once a container ship ismoored, the first thing is to place the Becker LNGPowerPac® on board via the port terminal’s locally available, standardised loading equipment (such as gantry cranes, ship-to-shore cranes and van carriers) to provide power to the on-board power supply during the vessel’s layover in port. Compared to operation of the ship’s auxiliary engines, this represents a decisive reduction.
