Mooring Plan As reported in the previous newsletter, Richard Jones and David Waltho
been working over the winter to produce an official mooring plan. Difficult to
see from this screen shot, but each mooring is numbered and referenced ac-
cording to Lattitude and Longitude. Depth information will be added. In due
course, each mooring will have a named member responsible for the boat/
mooring and contact number. This will help with security and maintenance for
Taster Sailing
Sessions will take place on the 1st
Sunday of the month between
June and August

Club Participation Winner It’s all good news at the moment! All clubs that submit participation figures to
RYA are put into a prize draw. Our name was pulled out of the hat, and the
Committee chose to purchase a Data Projector to enhance training provision.

Winter Walk Jeff Morgan kindly arranged the Clubs Winter Walk on 7 February. We set out
from the Brookhouse Mill restaurant and wandered across only slightly muddy
fields in sunshine. This is probably a first for the Club as last year was very
muddy and a previous trip round the lake incredibly windy. We had a wander
around Denbigh Castle and then a tour of the town walls. Jeff had a very
impressive key which allowed us exclusive access to the top of the town walls
giving a great view over the town (and some people's back gardens!). We then
made a loop back behind the old North Wales Hospital beside the river and
then on for a good meal at the restaurant.
I find these walks are great because
you catch up with news and get to
meet people and talk to people who
you might not otherwise get to know.
It's a pity that more members didn't
come. Jeff had put quite a bit of time
into reconnoitring the walk to
ensure that it was not too arduous.
The photograph proves that we have
sunshine! Will Johnson acted as our
photographer. Winter is almost over!

Winter Squad Training Over the winter period we have been working with RYA Cymru to deliver squad training for the Welsh National & Regional Feva Squads, Welsh Regional Optimist Squad and North Wales
Windsurfing Squad.

Alan Barnett Shortly before Christmas, Alan Barnett was involved in a serious accident at
home.
While winching a caravan up his drive something failed, was hit to the back of the head and found semi-conscious by the police a few hours later. After a spell in hospital, Alan spent some time recuperating at his daughter’ house and has recently returned home. Although making good progress, it will be
some time before Alan is well enough to sail.
Alan and his wife Jean, who sadly died in 2014, were amongst the early
members of the club and both separately served as club secretary.
Alan is an experienced sailor who built his own boat, a Miracle, and, with Jean sailed in Miracle open events and the Anglesey offshore race. Nowadays his
boat of choice is a Comet.
We wish Alan a speedy recovery and a return to sailing.
Members can pass on their personal good wishes by contacting Peter Davies, email: [email protected]

Throughout the winter our squad sailors have been training at venues all over the UK in preparation for the 2016 sailing season. As well as achieving the required sailing standard, all need to meet tough, age appropriate, fitness targets and undergo formal fitness tests on a regular basis. Each week they will be doing between 3 to 5 fitness sessions alongside school work, boat maintenance and spending most weekends on the water. Phew! That’s a busy schedule. Hat’s off to you all:
Kai Wolgram - GBR National Optimist Squad & Welsh National Optimist squad
Phoebe Roberts – GBR Intermediate Optimist Squad & Welsh National Optimist
Squad
Harry Pulford – GBR National Topper Squad & Welsh National Topper Squad

Committee Vacancies We still have two vacancies on the committee for Sailing Captain and Inclusion Officer.
The latter is a broadening of the disabilities representative role that was suggested at the
AGM to look at opportunities and issues not only for persons with disabilities but wider
groups who may face barriers to engaging in our sport.
Interested parties should contact David Blood - Email: [email protected]
