Livingston Rugby Football Club
Youth Section U16's won the
Edinburgh and District Bowl at
Murrayfield 29 - 22 against
Edinburgh BATS on Friday. An
emotional final end of Season
for the U16’s; Fraser Paterson 3
try's, 3 conversions and a
penalty, Lukas Palling and Ryan
Archibald scoring another 2
tries. Coach Paul McGrotty
said it was a “tough game we
quickly went into 14,0 lead they
fought back, we defended well
and showed an amazing amount
of fight and heart, it was
emotional end as it was end of
an era, some boys will stay U16s
some moving on to U18’s with
Jamie Lumsden’s (Scottish U16’s
player) last game and of course
end of coaching team”. Youth
Chair Jill Paterson said she was
felling emotional “reading
tributes from player’s, parents
and coaches about the game
realizing how much this meant.
Proud to be part of this club and
this team.”

Jamie Lumsden
‘Scotland U16 International’ Star
Jamie Lumsden, was recently picked
to play for Scotland U16’s. He has
played games against Wales and
France; Jamie, not one to shun the
limelight appeared in the West
Lothian Courier, (pictured above with
Coach Paul McGrotty and Journalist
Callum Carson.)
Just a reminder mentioned in our first
edition by Iain MacAulay (S2 coach)
“Jamie has been a member
of Livingston Rugby club
since joining at Mini’s level
and is a prime example of
what hard work and
determination can achieve.
He is an asset to his team
where his power, skill and
work ethic has stopped
many an attacking move
from an opposition team.
I’m sure you will all join us in
saying well done to Jamie”
Announcement of new
manager for the Micros Stuart
Henderson has stepped up to become
the new micros manager after Kevin
Miller had to step down due to work
commitments.
The Girls Youth Team
The Girls have grown from strength to
strength after their very first game as a
team, although they lost out to Falkirk
U15’s, the girls did themselves proud and
worked well as a team. Livingston Girls
Head Coach and Club President Lee
Anne Steel said “Brilliant team effort.
Great offloading and scrummaging.”.
The girls also took part in Murrayfield
Tournament coming third. The team is
growing with the help of Ioni McPherson
and Lee Anne Steel. Next year there will
be two teams an U18 and U15 team, if
you know someone that would like to
join the girls team, email Maria at
for more information to come along to a
training session.
The P7 Team did exceptionally well
before Christmas after bring invited to
take part in a tournament at Murrayfield
with 25 teams across Scotland as far
north as Aberdeen and south as Hawick.
They played some fantastic rugby
winning all their games sending them
through to the final.
Their first game was against Heriots
which they won 1-0, then they took on
the mighty Selkirk who in the last second
of play scored a try beating us 1-0. With
Kelso they managed a fantastic 3 -0
victory and finally beat Dunbar 3-1. The
boys played some fantastic rugby and
lost out to winning the tournament to
Selkirk by 1 point.
The P7’s came 2nd and got to play on
main pitch at Murrayfield at half time in
the Edinburgh - London-Irish game
against Selkirk which was very close at 4-
3. The boys played fantastic rugby and
were all very excited playing in
Murrayfield Stadium. A fantastic effort
coming second out of 25 teams across
Scotland.
The P7’s continued their undefeated
wins during games whilst away to
Lasswade for their first game of the
season. Slow to start but soon settled
into a rhythm. They showed improved
passing skills and ended with a
convincing win, Lasswade 1,
