“You are going down unless you are going up.”— kabbalistic saying

*WARNING: This level will not be easy! Level 1 provided an awaken-ing. This level will challenge you to do the work and really implementwhat you have learned thus far. It will take effort on your part to fol-low through, complete all of the Light-work involved, and stretchyour consciousness to new levels—but the work will be well worth it!You are going into the Light.

Your results will be proportional to how much effort andhow much work you put into this entire level.

Real fulfillment comes from continuous learning.

The Universe is working to serve you and the greater good.

Ask yourself, “Do I want to transform? Do I want to become a betterversion of myself?” Part of you wants to expand and to be the bestversion of you that you can be. Just remember, the real reward liesin the journey to get there.

I f the work becomes overly cha l leng ing for you:1. Ask yourself, “What is this bringing up for me?”

Asking these types of questions is more importantthan getting all the answers at this moment.Remember, this is a process.

2. Let it go and come back to it when you feel ready.

Level 1 was about waking up.Level 2 is now about tak ing act ion.

The quest ion is , what is i t that we need to do?

We will use the power of the72 Names of God as a k-Tool in this level.

You are probably thinking, “But I can’t read Aramaic!” It doesn’tmatter. Not in the least. This is not about foreign languages or unfamiliar alphabets.

The 72 Names are not actual words. With a few exceptions, they are not pronounceable in any meaningful way. Their particularconfigurations are devoid of literal meaning. They are sacredsequences that are activated visually.

The Aramaic word for letter means “pulse” or “vibration.”What’s pulsating? What’s vibrating? Energy! A flow of energy trans-fers directly to you when your eyes scan the shapes of the Names.

These meditation symbols transcend religion, race, geography, and the very concept of language. The Names were intended forall people as an instrument with which to connect us to the Light.Power is released through the unique shapes of these symbols, aswell as through the lines and curves expressed in their patterns.

The three-letter sequences that form each of the 72 Names operatemuch like a cable transmitting various blends of energy into our

Three Prerequis i tes to Act ivat ing the Power of the 72 Names:1. Conviction in their power. The Ego will flood your mind with

doubt and uncertainty with regard to the power that lies withinthe letters and their sequences.

2. An understanding of the particular influence radiating fromeach Name. This will be provided in the meditations made available to you in this course.

3. A follow-through physical action to activate the energy. This is often the hardest to observe. You must face a small test, a physical action that flips on the “Light switch.”

You can’t pray to turn on the light, you need towalk over to the light switch and flip it to ON.

“The words that enlighten the soul are more precious than jewels.”

physical world. The three letters signal three forces: a positivecharge, a negative charge, and a “ground wire.” This structure cre-ates a circuit of energy that safely channels a spiritual current intoyour life, just as a three-pronged plug securely transmits an electri-cal current into your home appliances.

When you meditate on these various three-letter sequences, afocused spiritual Light is transmitted directly to your soul.

Overview of the ZoharOf all the mystical tools of Kabbalah, none is greater than the Zohar.

As the kabbalists teach us, the purpose of our spiritual work is tomanifest the perfection of the world. This is our potential. Unfortunately,we still live in a world filled with pain, suffering, and death. Yet at any givenmoment, we have the potential to connect to that perfection—to a world inwhich everyone experiences total happiness and fulfillment. In fact, we havethe responsibility to bring this world about. This is our individual responsibili-ty, and it is also our shared responsibility as part of humanity.

Although we are now experiencing a far-from-perfect existence, this doesn’tdiminish in any way the perfect reality. Our flawed world doesn’t replace theperfected one; it only temporarily conceals it until we complete our work ofrevealing it. The Creator did not abandon us in our work; he gave us wisdom,he gave us tools, and, most importantly, he gave us a means of access—achannel—through which we can connect with and reveal this world of poten-tial. That channel is the Zohar.

In its simplest form, the Zohar is a commentary on the Bible, structured asconversations among a group of friends, scholars, and spiritual masters. But the reality and power of the Zohar far transcends the limits of the physi-cal world. the Zohar is an Aramaic word meaning “splendor” or “scintilla-tion”—and the Zohar is, quite literally, an unlimited resource of brilliant spiritu-al Light.

As the kabbalists explain, possessing and meditating on the Zoharbrings power, protection, and fulfillment into our lives. As we scan thepages in its original Aramaic language, a deep connection to the Creator’sLight comes into being. As we gain intimacy and understanding of theZohar, our consciousness deepens and expands. Spiritually, we grow andevolve; we become who we need to be in order to gain the joy and fulfill-ment that God has intended for us. On a very practical and personal level, the Zohar gives us the power to put those principles into action. This takesplace in every area of our lives, including our relationships, our spiritualwork, and even our businesses and careers. At the same time, when weconnect to the Zohar, we not only enrich our own lives but also draw Lightfor the rest of the world.

The Zohar, therefore, is not meant to be read like any other book.By its very presence, the Zohar is a point of connection with spiri-tual energy, which Kabbalah calls the Light. Our connection with theLight through the Zohar does not depend on our reading it and under-standing it in the conventional sense. Through its original language, itswords, and even its individual letters, the Zohar serves as a hugely power-ful channel for the Light. For this reason, the experience of the Zohar doesnot lie simply in reading it, but in meditating on it as well.

“Most people live, whether physically, intellectually, ormorally, in a very restricted circle of their potentialbeing. They make use of a very small portion of theirpossible consciousness, and of their soul’sresources in general, much like a man who, out of hiswhole bodily organism, should get into a habit ofusing and moving only his little finger. Great emer-gencies and crises show us how much greater ourvital resources are than we had supposed.”

— William James

To Benef i t from the Zohar:1. Read and meditate on it in Aramaic. The best way to under-stand and benefit from the wisdom of the Zohar is to allow oureyes to pass over its letters. The eyes are the windows to thesoul and, as such, provide an access point for the Light of theZohar to enter our being.

2. Read and meditate on it in English. Studying the Zohar is yetan additional form of connection.

You learned that you have the ability to choose either the Light ofthe Creator or the destructive nature of the Ego, and you discov-ered how to stop “being the effect.”

You learned how to recognize your Ego and were introduced totools with which to crush it.

You learned that the Ego drives reactive behavior, which keepsus from understanding and appreciating the deeper meaning ofthe events in our lives, and you used some tools with which toembrace a more proactive approach.

You learned that the 99 percent world is the world that liesbeyond your five senses, and you discovered how to tap into the infinite energy that this world embodies.

You learned that your “garbage” is really a gift, as it makes youaware of the corrections you must make in order to elevate yourconsciousness and connect to the Light.

You learned that Light is the source of literally everything.

You learned about the Vessel’s natural Desire to Receive, andyou discovered that you have the choice to receive either foryourself alone or for the greater good; to share with others.

You learned that we are all connected through the Light; discovered how to recognize when you are taking from otherswith judgment or jealousy; and were taught meaningful ways to share with others.

How to Meditate1. Create a balance between being awake and alert and, atthe same time, having a relaxed mental state. When you aremeditating, you want to be a careful observer of your own mindand thoughts. In Kabbalah, we always encourage people whoare meditating to sit in a chair; to keep their arms and legsuncrossed; and to get as comfortable as possible.

2. Set both a minimum and a maximum amount of time tomeditate, and stick to that as your range. Some people don’tmeditate enough, while others go overboard. We recommendthat if you’re going to commit yourself to five minutes of medita-tion, make it a minimum of five minutes. However, if you’re thetype of person who can get a little carried away, cap your medita-tion time at 10 or 12 minutes, at least in the beginning. Then youcan gradually increase your time, depending on your inclination.

3. Focus your intentions. You’re going to start with a sacredsequence or with one of the connections that will inspire a specif-ic direction for your meditation.

4. Stay relaxed. Don’t push yourself. Don’t expect instant results.Don’t expect to feel as if you’ve achieved nirvana. These are notnecessarily indications that you have made a great leap ofprogress. Sometimes the most significant transformations arethose that take place only when you look back on them, after afew months or even a few years have elapsed.

Most people start a spiritual path as a result of somethingthat happened to them or to someone they know. Usually, it’san effect or a reaction to what we call extreme circumstances.

Unfortunately, when problems arise and we fix whatever it is that isinvolved, our desire for spirituality fizzles. It ceases to exist, becausewe’ve taken care of the reason we came to spirituality in the firstplace. You may have picked up The Living Kabbalah System™because of a particular problem that arose in your life, but trulycombating that problem requires a grassroots effort that starts fromthe bottom of the pyramid and goes all the way to the top.

Our purpose is to actually get to a level where there are no ups and downs.

Moving only a little higher is the real danger of the pyramid. If wejust solve that one problem, even though everything else in our lifemay be unfulfilling, we think it’s okay. However, all we’ve really done is create a wheel—one in which we’re sometimes up andsometimes down. Maybe we’re not down because of one thing, but we’re down because of another.

Kabbalah is about going to the next level.

The feeling that you are being deprived in the present means that the abundance you’re waiting for will never really arrive.

We must get out of our preprogrammed conditioning and behaviorin order to reach our true potential.

Our patterns keep us in our comfort zone—keeping us from growth and lasting fulfillment.

The expectations of ourselves or others can limit our level of fulfillment.

Kabbalistically, when a sage accomplishes something in the past, it creates a cosmic opening and allows us to use that energy in our lives as well, making it easier for us in our own journey.

2LKS

Page 36: Living Kabbalah System

You cannot manage what you cannot measure.

If we don’t apply a strong structure and discipline to our journey, we’re never going to get anywhere.

Structure gives freedom.

The only way to unleash our potential is to get out of our pre-programmed conditioning and behavior.

Habits are a part of human nature. You either create rituals thatbring you Light or develop habits that bring you darkness. If you failto make rituals of Light part of your daily routine, a void will open up in your life. The Ego will then compel you to fill that space with non-supportive behavior.

It is what you do on a day-to-day basis that really makes a difference. Taking action daily gives you the strength to counterreactive tendencies, and the investment you make each day is exponential in terms of the long-term results you achieve.

We must take spiritual responsibility for our lives on all levels.

Open up to this possibility.Ask yourself, “Could this be true?”

Remember that you are not a victim. When you are truly connected to the 99 percent and not just to the 1 percent of thephysical world, you recognize that you really cannot get hurt. Themoment you take responsibility for your entire movie, a whole newparadigm is opened up in your life. Once you leave victimvillebehind, you automatically start connecting to the Light.

We forget how much power we actually have.

Why is it so hard to accept responsibility for everything in our movie?

Spiritual delay.

There is a distance between Cause and Effect that preventsus from perceiving the connections between the events of our lives. Time delays the Effect, which gives us an opportunity toexercise free will. We need the spiritual delay in order to give usan opportunity to do our work, to take our journey. If we lived inthe pure spiritual world—in which there really is no time, and whereCause and Effect are simultaneous—we wouldn’t have an opportunityto grow.

Time is an illusion.

We need to act with certainty and know that whatever we do will cre-ate fulfillment in the future. The more certainty you have, the closeryou can bring the future toward you, and the more power you willhave to narrow the gap of time represented by a spiritual delay.

Ask yourself, “What consciousness created this?”

Our job is to come to peace with them and not let them affect us.

The energy of miracles is always there untapped, waiting in potential. The question is, what kind of vessel do we have to receive them?

Turn on the Light!

When we tap into the Light force of the Creator, everythingflows toward us. The Light is the source of the miracle, but it’s upto us to remove the barrier. The moment we think that something ismiraculous, we actually kill the miracle. If we are prepared to get outof the way and let the process of the Light happen, miracles willbecome a daily part of our lives.

Imagine a massive, darkened auditorium. It’s pitch black.Inside the auditorium stand three people. They’re uncomfortable, stranded alone in the darkness. So the first person prays to theelectricity to power up the lights. Nothing happens. The second person hastily erects a tiny synagogue, church, or mosque insidethe auditorium to worship the electricity in the hopes that this willactivate the lights. Still nothing happens. The first two people thenget together and write on parchment scrolls in praise of this unseenforce and speak of it in a story and parable. Nothing happens. Thethird person sits for a while and then patiently moves over to thelight switch and flips it on. The auditorium is instantly bathed in light.

Tap into the flow! Everyone can make miracles happen, but mostpeople simply don’t know that they can or how to do it. It’s aboutharnessing your ability to control matter within your mind, especiallywhen it seems irrational to the five senses.

True messages from the Light come at unexpected and unrelated times. We must be alert and aware in order to hear andunderstand them.

Did you know? The 4-minute-mile. This historic event tookplace on May 6, 1954 during a meet betweenBritish AAA and Oxford University at IffleyRoad track in Oxford. It was watched byabout 3,000 spectators. With winds up to 25miles per hour (40 km/h) prior to the event,Bannister had said twice that he favoured notrunning, to conserve his energy and efforts tobreak the 4-minute barrier; he would try againat another meet. However, the windsdropped just before the race was scheduledto begin, and Bannister did run. His time was3 min 59.4 s. Two other runners, Chris

Brasher, and Christopher Chataway, provided pacing whilst completingthe race. Both went on to establish their own stellar track careers. Therace was broadcast live by BBC Radio and commented on by Harold"Chariots of Fire" Abrahams. The stadium announcer for the race wasNorris McWhirter, who went on to publish and edit the Guinness Bookof Records. Bannister's record-setting mile run was called the "MiracleMile" because some doubted a four-minute-mile was physically possible for a man to achieve.

However, the claim that a four-minute mile was once thought to beimpossible by informed observers was and is a widely propagatedmyth cooked up by sportswriters and debunked by Bannister himselfin his memoir, The Four Minute Mile, 1955. The reason the myth tookhold was that four minutes was a nice round number which was slightly better (1.4 seconds) than the world record for nine years --longer than it probably otherwise would have been because of theeffect of World War II in interrupting athletic progress in the combatantcountries. Note that the Swedish runners Gunder Hagg and ArneAndersson, in a series of head-to-head races in the period 1942-45,had already lowered the world mile record by 5 seconds to the pre-Bannister record. See World record progression for the mile run. Seealso A World History of Track and Field Athletics, 1864-1964 by R.L.Quercetani, Oxford University Press, 1964 for a history of themile/1500 m. event. What is still impressive to knowledgeable trackfans is that Bannister ran a four-minute mile on very low-mileage training by modern standards.

Just 46 days later on June 21 in Turku, Finland, Bannister's record wasbroken by his rival John Landy of Australia, with a time of 3 min 58s.

Levels of Miracles:1. Probable: You think it can happen.

3. Impossible: You think it cannot happen.

Miracles don’t happen if you don’t havea belief system that they can happen.

At his bedside, friends, loved ones, and even his doctorscanned the Zohar. Eventually the Rav woke up and spoke. From that point on, miracles began to happen.

Millions and millions of nerve cells are actually missing from theRav’s brain. So he reprogrammed and rewired his brain in a waythat modern medicine cannot explain. The Rav’s recovery is miraculous. It’s miraculous in his recovery from the coma; it’s miraculous in his recovery from a vegetative state; it’s miraculous in terms of his ability to walk; it’s miraculous in his ability to talk—all things that once were not possible to imagine.

shame-like feelings that can be likened to receiving unearned good fortune. For instance,

Bread of Shame would occur if we won the Super Bowl or the World Cup without ever

having played a single game. It’s not much fun holding a trophy and declaring ourselves

champions if we never played the game. To the contrary, we would feel rather silly. However,

one removes Bread of Shame when one earns a championship by playing challenging games

throughout an entire season and defeating formidable opponents on the road to victory.

The worst kind of Bread of Shame is whenyou enable another’s Bread of Shame.

We came to this world to share and to become givers.

Sharing cannot include enabling someone else’s Bread of Shame.Sometimes sharing means saying “no”; sometimes it means saying “yes.” It is whatever you need to do to not enable anotherhuman being.

Remove your personal agenda. The only reason a personenables another is that they have a personal agenda and the situation serves them in some way. If we are not evolving as human beings, we are either creating Bread of Shame for ourselves or enabling another person’s Bread of Shame.

Deuel is a former restaurant manager; at one point,he had not left his house, or even his bed, in 7years. He stands at 5'9” (175 centimeters) . At one point he weighed 1,072 pounds; at the time, the only scale that could be used to weigh him was a livestock scale. He was taken out of hishome via crane, after crews removed a wall of his

home in Valentine, and rushed to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls,South Dakota via a special ambulance with extra-wide doors that had to be dispatched from Denver. His current method of weight loss is a supervised1200 calorie/day diet; he also had gastric bypass surgery.

Deuel's weight loss and surgical care have been overseen by Dr. Fred Harris.Avera McKennan Hospital has had to cover at least part of the costs of Deuel'streatment, which has caused some controversy.

In 2005, he was featured on the United States television network, TLC, in aprogram entitled Half Ton Man, also shown in the UK on Channel 4 in February2006. It chronicled his fight with obesity, and the heartaches he endured whileclinging to life. He lost half his weight in a matter of months with an emergencydiet, which was featured on the show. His wife Edith is also obese, but not tohis extent; she has decided to pursue gastric bypass surgery as well.According to Half Ton Man, weight problems had inhibited the Deuels fromever consummating their marriage — but their dedication to one another isstrong nonetheless.

On March 7, 2006, Deuel underwent surgery in South Dakota to remove amass of fat and skin that was hanging from his midsection (panniculus), making it hard for him to walk. He lost 81 pounds, and now weighs about 400 pounds.

Deuel is also a born-again Christian and has stated his faith in Jesus has givenhim inspiration and that others have "kept him in their prayers."

You know you are making progresswhen you notice the Opponent.

When you actively pursue your spiritual work, you haveactivated your Opponent to fight.

As in any game, you have to face an Opponent in order towin. Obstacles are opportunities for us to go to the next level. Andmistakes are mistakes only if we don’t learn from them.

Let the Light fight for you! It’s not who you are; it’s who is fighting for you.

We don’t have to do this work by ourselves! It’s not just usagainst the Opponent; it’s us and the Light against the Opponent. If we let the Light fight for us, we can defeat anything.

The outward mask often acts as a trigger for the deeperand more destructive inner Ego.

Universal Concealment :A baby must be concealed in the womb of its mother before it can berevealed in the physical world.

In telling stories/metaphors, the principles of truth, lessons of life, andspiritual concepts are embedded in the story and are conveyed in thetelling of the story. The story conceals that principle.

Do what is uncomfortable!

Step into the blast to resurrect your consciousness. EvenKabbalah can be done superficially if you choose to avoid takingreal actions with intent. This work needs to be taken seriously inorder to defeat the Ego.

If you remove Ego from one area without getting to its core, it will simply relocate. You must continually challenge it by tryingnew things and doing what is uncomfortable. You must decide thatyou are going to do what is uncomfortable yet necessary in order tofind where your ultimate Cause Ego is hiding.

You need too ls :1. To find the Ego.

2. To defeat the Ego

When you find a way to break from your nature and transcend your Ego, you simultaneously transcend the natural laws of this world, including the karmic laws of cause and effect.

When you find Ego and call it by name, you remove its power.

Don’t let your Ego become your prison.

If you can recognize an illusion as an illusion, it dissolves.

Often, you see your Ego show up in how you view other people.

What you see in others is really what you need to work on.When you find yourself judging others, it is really about you.

Relationships with other people provide the best opportunities for spiritual growth.

The Baal Shem Tov’s Teachings:1. The world has been set up so that whenever you spot a negative traitwithin other people in your life, you can be sure that trait is within you aswell. Otherwise, you would never have seen it.

2. Not only is the negative a reflection of what’s inside of you, but the person you are looking at doesn’t have any hope of getting rid of theirnegative trait until you get rid of your own.

3. In no uncertain terms, the person in front of you will not change his or her ways until you first uproot and eradicate your negative traits.

4. Your responsibility is not only to yourself but to the person in front of you. When you accept this, you’ll see a change in that person.

Ask yourself: “How can I give back to this person who is serving as amessenger from the Light to show me where my Ego is?”

Other people will actually start changing when you change.

It is almost easier to deal with physical pain than it is to deal with the pain of the Ego. However, the more you confront and removeyour Ego, the more effective this entire program will be for you. We cannot be successful on our path if we’re not fighting the Ego.

One of the tools with which to combat the Ego is to open ourselves up to being humiliated.

This is not about making a fool out of yourself; it is about activelyseeking the things that are the most difficult for you and fully owningthose things. Seeking humiliation not only helps you find yourCause Ego but also forces you to be who you need to be in order to pursue the path that the Light wants you to pursue.

Humiliation is an illusion.

Run toward humiliation! If the entire world took full responsibilityfor just one day, it would all be over. The most significant thing wecan do to change the world is to help individuals recognize andaccept their negativity.

2. an idea, thought, or other entity that causes feelings of fear.

3. awe or reverence, especially toward God.

We Hold Onto Ego for Two Reasons:1. We cannot see it.

Our disease is our cure. When you are aware of your addiction, you have the ability to correct it.

F ive Basic Human Needs:1. To feel secure.

2. To give and receive.

3. To belong and feel significant.

4. To create.

5. For the Light of the Creator (our only real need).

We turn to addictions when we crave one of these needs, but we settle for a temporary fix instead.

Cl in ica l Def in i t ion of an Addict ion:1. Loss of control.

2. If you don't have it, you feel lack or pain.

3. Continue destructive behavior fully knowing the negative consequences that it will create.

Addictions are unsupportive habits created by your Ego.

It is a Catch-22—we start off with a lack and temporarily fill it, only to end up with an even greater lack.

The Ego’s ultimate victory is to convince us to completely lose our desire for the Light by replacing our desire forLight with short-term fulfillment.

Your free will let you decide if you are going to be an addictto Light or an addict to the Opponent. That is really what itcomes down to. We all have learned habitual, addictive behaviors.

What we came here to do is to overcome addictions to the physicalworld and learn to become addicted to the Light of the Creator. The problem is, it is usually much easier to get addicted to a cappuccino than it is to a bowl of steamed zucchini. One taste of amochachino, and you can be sure you’ll be instantly addicted andhooked. One taste of quinoa or steamed zucchini, on the otherhand, and you’re probably not going to get addicted right away.

The Opponent has the ability to “hook, line, and sink” you after onlyone taste. The Light of the Creator is a much more difficult taste to acquire. And we know, of course, that this is by design—so thatwe can earn the Light, the fulfillment, and the eternal joy that truefulfillment represents.

According to the Zohar, Add ict ion Can Be Two Th ings:1. Idol worship: Supplementing the Light with something else.

2. Slavery:When we are so locked up that our addictions control us.

The degree to which we change our naturedetermines our level of fulfillment.

[ Exercise ]Which of the scenarios below reveals more spiritual Light in ourworld? Which person expresses the most spiritual Light in his ownlife? On the basis of all that we have learned, let’s briefly examineeach scenario to discover the answer:

A hundred thousand dollars in small-denomination bills lies on topof a desk in a place of business.

Scenario Number One: A man walks in and sees the money. Hemakes sure no one is watching, and he scoops up the cash andflees like a bandit.

Scenario Number Two: A man walks in and sees the money. Hebegins shaking, fearing the prospect of even touching the cash, let alone stealing it. He flees the building like a scared rabbit.

Scenario Number Three: A man walks in and sees the money. After checking to see that no one is watching, he scoops up thecash and begins to flee. But then he stops. He agonizes for amoment and decides to return the money to the desk.

Scenario Number Four: A man walks in and sees the money. He takes it and places it inside a briefcase. He locks the briefcaseand hands it over to the authorities for safekeeping. He thenleaves a note on the desk informing whoever has misplaced alarge sum of cash to contact him, and he will direct that person tothe authorities to retrieve it.

[ Exercise Answer ]Scenario Number One: In this case the man is governed by hisreactive, instinctive Desire to Receive, which tells him to take themoney and run. Reactive behavior produces no Light.

Scenario Number Two: This man is merely reacting to hisinstinctive desire to be frightened even at the thought of stealingthe money. Reaction to his natural instinct produces no Light. The man enters the building and leaves again with his natureunchanged.

Scenario Number Three: This man initially reacts to his desire tosteal the cash, but then he stops his reaction. He shuts it downproactively. Then, going against his initial instinct, he transformshis nature in this one instant and returns the money. His transformation from reactive to proactive reveals spiritual Light.

Scenario Number Four: Here, the man merely reacts to hisinstinctive desire to do the right thing. He was already in a proactive state of mind concerning stealing the money. Nochange of nature occurs, and he remains the same personthroughout the event. According to Kabbalah, such behavior will produce no additional Light in this person’s life. However, the honorable man in this scenario can still reveal Light. After returning the money, he must not react to his Ego, which is telling him how kind and virtuous he is. He must resist his Desire to Receive—which in this case means his desire to receive praise for his good deed.

The degree of Light that you bring to the world is exactly proportional to how much personal transformation you arevoluntarily undergoing. That is what creates the Vessel that isgoing to hold and keep your Light. Thus, if you are not seeingresults from your spiritual work, it means that either the quality orthe quantity of your actions is not sufficient.

Every effort is weighted against effort, difficulty, and risk.

Always remember that our positive traits do not flip on the Light. The Light comes when we identify, uproot, and transform our reactive, negative characteristics. When you think,“This can’t be easy,” then you know you are on the right track.Spiritual growth is the next level.

There are three things you must partake of on a regular basis in order to be successful on this path.

1. Be giving of your time with no agenda.

2. Engage in sharing actions without an agenda.

3. Give some of the money that you’ve earned to be used for the service of others.

One of the biggest blocks keeping us from the Lightis judgment.

Rapid cognition is our natural ability to see a solution to a problem. However, the Opponent uses logic, emotion, and judgment to cloud our natural reasoning process and affect our decisions.

When we are frustrated with others, we are coming from aplace of judgment. This is where we let our internal dialogue withthe Ego convince us that another person is above or beneath us,thereby creating feelings of frustration or anger with that person.

It is our nature to use judgment as a means of discerning the advantages and disadvantages between one choice and another.

We pull the trigger of judgment on ourselves.

If you withhold judgment on another human being even when judgment is warranted and you instead show mercy, the Universe can never judge you.

Suppression also creates space. Remember: The goal is not to become a zombie.

There is a fine line between suppressing our emotions andshutting down our reactive systems. Suppressing emotionscreates long-term stress and an eventual “blow-up.” The discomfortof resistance to reactionary impulses creates a momentary struggle, but calmness and clarity almost immediately ensue.

If you find yourself in inner turmoil—if you cannot stop thinking about something—your reactive tendency is to retreat inside yourself. The point, however, is not to refrain from doing something.Rather than torturing yourself internally, find a proactive way to handle the situation by going beyond your five senses.

It’s all about seeing the big picture. When you’re willing to embraceyour judgment, you are able to let it go. In contrast, the more you suppress the way you feel about someone, the more it will stay with you.

Go from judgment to observation.

Consider a reaction that took place in your life—an individualwith whom you had a run-in, or someone who upset you forone reason or another.

Sit down and write a letter to that person, venting all the reasons you were upset, hurt, or angry. Don’t hold anythingback. Note: Don’t send this letter; merely express all your feelings and write all your thoughts down on paper.

When the negative energy of the situation has dispelled, return to the letter you wrote and read it.

Ask yourself these questions about the situation. Be honestwith yourself. The more honest you are with yourself, the more you can grow.

a. Was this a reaction?

b. Were you in a reactive space when you wrote it?

c. Did you act out of a place of judgment?

Part of our life already exists at the 99 percent level. We must become more aware of that connection.

Our thoughts do not originate from the physical aspects of the brain. Instead, the brain is like an antenna—a receiving station that picks up a signal and then rebroadcasts it into the conscious mind.

At any given moment in time, your antenna is pointed toward eitherchaos or Light. In reality, this is the only decision a person evermakes. If you point your antenna toward the Light, you have amuch better chance of getting the right signal. You have the powerto shift the dial. The only thoughts that come in are the thoughtsthat you let in.

When you proactively seek out the world beyond the five senses, there are no limitations to what is possible.

Consciousness of the Vessel: Me, Me, Me.Consciousness of the Light: God.

Did you know?During the week, our soul draws energy from the Light (Binah) through a medium of Sfirot known as Zeir Anpin. On Shabbat, however, Zeir Anpin disappears, and we connect directly with Binah.

Unique among the Creator’s gifts, Shabbat does not have to beearned. We do not have to navigate the realm of Zeir Anpin in order to get to Binah. Instead, it is Binah or bust! It is a total freebie—a freeglimpse of the ultimate Light. What could be better? By connecting toShabbat, you put yourself in touch with the Source of all blessings. At the same time, you remove the causes of chaos at their deepestroot level.

Kabbalists explain that Shabbat is the only day of the week in which the spiritual and physical worlds are united. The Light flowsthroughout the entire day and is available for us to receive from it asmuch as we want.

On Shabbat, you don’t need to make an effort to connect with theLight. All you have to do is show up and get free Light. It’s as thoughthe local bank manager says, “Listen, between Friday at sunset andSaturday at sunset, the bank vault will be open. You can just come inand take an unlimited amount of gold.” By the way, it is not Bread of Shame on Shabbat; there is no earning necessary, because Zeir Anpin is not there. That’s why it is free.

The effort is to come to receive.

Even a few hours of Shabbat can dramatically benefit the comingweek. And Kabbalah teaches that the effects of Shabbat are cumula-tive: From week to week, an ever-increasing amount of negativity isremoved from your life and replaced with happiness and fulfillment.

We don’t observe Shabbat because it is holy. It’s not a day of rest. It’s the hardest day of the week around here because there’s so much going on to draw Light. But if you are someone who really wantsto get the maximum amount of Light available, you will do it by anymeans necessary.

At certain times, more energy is available from the universe.

Whenever you feel as if you want to run away, that is the time you need to gather up more strength—because there is so much more Light to be had.

If you are a better person, the world around you will be better as well.

People who are successful at what they do are willing to consistently embrace pain because they know that the end result will be powerful. If you are willing to embrace pain,it is amazing what the result can be.

Pain can be a great opportunity to bring in more Light.

Often people stop working on themselves spirituallywhen “real” challenges show up.

You Know You Need to Focus on Someth ing When:1. Your first reaction is to run away.

2. Thinking about it makes you want to “shut off.”

Pain reveals the Light.

Pain is Light trying to come in. It is letting go of the Desire to Receive for the Self Alone. You can choose which path youwish to take: the path of Light or the path of darkness. When youare fully connected to the Light, there is no pain—not even death.

Page 159: Living Kabbalah System

You can turn your “garbage” into a vehicle through which to serve.

Go to sleep at night, exhausted but victorious.

Instead of holding your pain inside, bring it to the surface and use it to help other people who have gone through the same experience.

Our biggest pains and secrets have the potential to reveal the most Light.

Chaos doesn’t have to stop you from being who you were meant to be.

“Astrological forces impel, but they do not compel.”

— Rav Berg

One of the important tools that can help us complete ourcorrection (tikkun) is knowledge of astrology based onKabbalah. Kabbalistic astrology is not in opposition to generalastrology but is a step beyond it, as it shows us both our strengthsand our weaknesses so that we can use our thoughts to overcomeand transform our “garbage,” thereby helping us navigate our lives in the most harmonious and felicitous way.

Kabbalistic astrology helps us define our “garbage” so that we can better navigate through our life.

This also helps us understand other people’s buttons so that we can better relate to and understand them.

The universe is composed of four elements: air, water, fire, and earth. Each element has a different nature: air represents theintellect and interpersonal communication; water signifies emotion, giving, and helping others; fire denotes a lack, the creative impulse;and earth represents materialism, carrying out tasks, and stability.

The stars do not determine anything, but reflect a situation. We can nevertheless use them to help us elevate ourselves above the planetary influences as well as above our fate. The stars help us utilize the freedom of choice that was granted to us ashuman beings.

The signs under each element have the same basic frequencies, but these frequencies manifest slightly differently in each one.

All of us will achieve perfection and lasting fulfillment. We will all make the corrections we came here to make.

The On ly D i f ference Is the Process of Correct ion:1. How long we take.

2. How difficult we make it.

We Al l Have Two Types of L ight :1. Internal Light: The Light we have worked for; the fulfillment wecurrently have in our life.

2. Surrounding Light: The potential Light that surrounds our soul.

Until we transform, the Surrounding Light remains untapped.

When you open up and pursue your spiritual journey, you awaken the Light surrounding your soul.

Our potential Light cries out to us and pushes us. This is what drives us to change.

You must break through the Ego with pressure in order toreceive the Surrounding Light.

Two Ways to Break Through the Ego:1. Proactively from the inside: You have control over it and canbreak out of consciousness.

2. Force, smashing in from the outside: A very scary caving-inprocess.

The universe is not trying to punish us;it’s just trying to wake us up!

Stress is our reaction to the Light providing us with opportu-nities to proactively break through the Ego in order to grow. The illusion is that the pressure we are stressed about is a problem.Because we don’t understand the pressure, we run away from it.

Ways People Experience Stress:

Impatience Anger

Overeating Lowered immunity

Anxiety Avoidance

Lethargy Addictions

Suicide

Turn stressful energy into positive consciousness.

Stress Is Posi t ive Because I t :

1. Awakens our consciousness into taking action.2. Causes us to confront situations and solve problems.3. Forces us to create accountability and discipline.4. Gets us to take proactive action.5. Increases our desire to change and transform.

The Paradox of Spirituality:

The only way to get real comfort is to get uncomfortable.

Life is neutral—it’s what you make out of it that counts.

Your goal: No matter how uncomfortable a situation may be, transform it into something positive, and use it as an opportunity to grow and connect with more Light.

To really get to the next level, you need a spiritual partner. This must be someone whom you trust and with whomyou have no space.

Ways to Receive More L ight :

1. Know that everything is the Light; love, happiness and joy.

2. Be less reactive.

3. Give.

4. Create certainty no matter what.

Once you gain higher consciousness, you still have desire, but itcomes from a much deeper place within yourself.

1 It’s hard for a wealthy person to be a good person. T / F

2 Many people who have become very wealthy were happier when they were poor. T / F

3 The best things in life are free. T / F

4 Man cannot serve both God and material desire. T / F

Money is 99% energy, and 1% physical matter.

To be truly prosperous, you need to think about the thoughts, feelings, and actions that affect your financial status. Youneed to eliminate those that are having a destructive effect andbuild on those that are positive and proactive.

Money is just as much a gift of the Creatoras any other form of spiritual fulfillment.

Money is a “life” energy—like love, like food, like relationships with other people. It is infinite.

What are the reasons you give for not having enough money? What is really holding you back? We block the energy of pros-perity with our “garbage.” And, at times, we are too full of ourselvesto let the Light in.

When you need help, open your Vessel.

Ironically, in times of stress, most people shut off their accessto the Light rather than opening up to receive assistance.

Scale-of -Sharing Qu iz :Level One: The Begrudging Giver. I don’t really want to give, andwhen I do, I give grudgingly.

Level Two: The Under-Giver. I give a lot less than I can afford and a lotless than I should, but I am happy to make at least some contribution.

Level Three: Reactive Sharing. Someone asks me for a favor orsomeone close to me needs help, so I agree.

Level Four: Proactive Sharing. I don’t need to be asked. I can seewhen someone needs assistance, and I take the initiative to offer it.

Level Five: Uncomfortable Sharing. This is sharing out of the comfortzone. (Any time you are out of your comfort zone, you are in the rightplace!) You may never have given to this person before, or it may bemore than you feel comfortable giving, but you go ahead and giveanyway.

Level Six: Sharing Without Recognition. This is anonymous sharing. You know where the money is going, but the person or organizationreceiving it doesn’t know who the giver is. This is non-ego sharing and isranked very high!

Level Seven: Sharing Without Agenda. You don’t know where themoney is going, and the receiver doesn’t know where it came from.Your sharing is arranged through a third party such as a family memberor a trusted friend. This is truly high-level sharing.

Level Eight: Proactive Action Sharing. Here, you cut off someone’spain and suffering before it even happens. You anticipate that a negativesituation may affect them, and you share with them so as to prevent thesituation rather than waiting until they’re in trouble before you help. Thisis a tremendous level of sharing.

Level Nine:Global-Scale Sharing. You give to a place or to anorganization that not only takes care of things on a small scale, but alsoattempts to change the world. This is world-class sharing—sharing thatcan effect changes on a global scale. Our goal at The Kabbalah Centreis to be an organization that addresses the needs of humanity on thatscale, and we invite you to look for other such organizations.

Level Ten: All of the above.

These are the various levels of sharing. Always ask yourself where you stand on this scale, because clarity and truth are theOpponent’s most bitter enemies.

How to Go from Sel f to Se l f less Service:

1. Ask yourself, “What can I do?” and “How can I help?”

2. Know that sharing is natural. If you are a human being, it is your nature to share. Expand your nature to give.

3. Acknowledge yourself for sharing, and focus on the potential Light you can bring to others.

4. Be fully present. When you are with people, really be with them—mind, body, and spirit.

5. Share when every cell of your body does not want to, even when it is uncomfortable.

6. The more you look for ways to share, the more ways will show up.

Every action, thought, prayer, and donation makes a difference.

Little things are really what make the most difference.

We’re not extraordinary people—we’re ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

There Are Two Ways to Receive In format ion:

1. As a philosophy.

2. As a knowledge and technology that becomes a part of who we are.

The only way to really receive information and integrateit into our lives is to share it with others.

It is our duty to share what we learn, and so far you have probably learned many things that you would like to share with your loved ones. However, do not force information on anyone. There must be a Vessel to take in Light.

Before you jump in and start sharing all this information, consider some distinctions.

How to Bu i ld the Vessel in Others:

Step 1: Be an example.

Step 2: Have true love and care for the other person.

Step 3: Take some time and pray for that person.

Step 4: Make sure they know that you care about them andtheir well-being.

Step 5: Let go.

Ten Pr inc ip les for Sharing Th is In format ion:1. Make sure your consciousness is in the right place. Is it

because you have a genuine desire to share, or are you seeking aresidual benefit?

2. Remember that becoming a being of sharing does not meanchanging people.

3. Give people their space. If someone is unwilling to take responsibility, is in denial, or is simply so steeped in anger or self-pity that they can’t see out of their predicament, be sensitive to their situation.

4. Remember that advice is our biggest vice. Don’t just start givingadvice. You can cite kabbalistic rhetoric until you are blue in the face, but if you don’t demonstrate love, your message will get lost.

5. Empathize. Being a positive channel for certainty involves understanding the pain of other people. Only then can you bring others to a point of trusting the Light. You must feel others’ pain as if it were your own.

6. Provide unconditional love. Look at others as though you werelooking at your own child.

7. Let yourself off the hook. You don’t need to fix everyone, nor canyou. Our only work is to fix ourselves. Sometimes people just need togo through the pain. Remember, an integral part of revealing Light liesin facing the pain and working through it, as difficult as that may be.

8. Be certain. Have certainty in the Light. When someone comes to you with a physical or emotional problem, your certainty can be aLighthouse that can guide them out of their darkness.

9. Listen and be present. People who will just sit and cry with youwhen the chips are down are often those who help the most. It’s theiractions; that show they care that make a difference, not their words.

10. Ask yourself, “Am I helping or hurting?” Helping means leading a person to a proactive place in which they can see the action oractions that created their current chaos.

You will find that the right opportunities to make a meaningful impact will present themselves to you if you are patient.

Continue to proactively integrate positive tools and practices into your life.

You are responsible for literally everything in your life. You have thepower to create miracles.

Know that the Light is always there and is always waiting. In a split second, everything can turn around if we can change our consciousness.

Accepting spiritual responsibility, is understanding the cause-and-effect process. You first have to decide that you want to take thisjourney—that this journey is important to you. If you don’t make thatdecision, nothing is really going to change.

Your Ego is powerless if you have the courage to face it head on. Welearned about the Opponent and about the Ego. To be sure, you haveforces in your life. You may feel as though everything is against you andthat everything is trying to take you down—but the truth is that theseforces are trying to squeeze something amazing out of you.

Addiction does not merely involve people who go to 12-step groupsbecause they are addicted to alcohol or to drugs. Although these areserious things that we have addressed, we also addressed the factthat we’re all addicts—that each and every one of us is addicted tofeeding our ego in some way.

Eliminate chaos in any situation by injecting certainty.

Don’t let yourself run away from what you need to correct the most.We talked about astrology, different signs, and understanding that thediscipline of astrology is not about what you read in the newspaper orin magazines. Astrology is actually a powerful spiritual tool that canhelp you connect to your positive tools and become aware of thenegative parts of your consciousness. We became aware of some ofthe more humorous, reactive aspects of each sign.

Continually embrace your capacity to expand your vessel, awakenyour Surrounding Light, and share unconditionally. We learned what itreally means to be a vessel for the Light, how to expand our vessel, how to share, what sharing really means, how it’s a state ofconsciousness, and how it’s not just about giving things to someone.

Where is my desire directed?

What seeds am I planting that will grow into trees andfruits in 10 or 20 years? Am I creating fulfillment or chaos?

How could I have been more proactive today? What can I do tomorrow to ensure a more proactive day?

Why is this in my movie? How can I use it as an opportunity to transform?

What are the signs and signals that the Universe is sending to me?

What is in my life right now that is a blessing? What am I grateful for right now? What is being provided to me right now?

How can I share more with others?

““When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project,

all of your thoughts break their bonds: your mind transcends limitations,

your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great,

and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties, and talents

have become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever dreamed yourself to be.”

1 Percent, The: Our physical world of the five senses. It represents only 1% ofabsolute reality. It is an illusion. It is a world of time, space, and motion. It is adimension of chaos and order, good and evil, Light and darkness. What we perceive is usually the opposite of reality.

99 Percent, The: True reality. An infinite realm of pure goodness, endlesswisdom, unending joy, continuous contentment, and everlasting happiness.

72 Names of God, The: Broadband for the Soul. Plugging into the Light.Different combinations of Names deliver different forces of energy, such ashealing, prosperity, and the actual power of life.

Aramaic letters:Metaphysical cables that channel the spiritual current andpower of the Creator. You switch them on with your eyes. You plug in with asimple glance. And you can be Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, or evenatheist, and they will still work! Does electricity care what religion you are? Nordoes the awesome Light of the Creator.

Bread of Shame: Bread of Shame refers to those shame-like feelings that can belikened to receiving charity, handouts, and unearned good fortune. For instance,Bread of Shame would occur if we won the Super Bowl or the World Cup withoutever having played a single game. It’s not much fun holding a trophy declaringourselves champions if we never played the game. However, one removes Breadof Shame when one earns a championship by playing challenging gamesthroughout an entire season and defeating formidable opponents on the road tovictory.

Certainty: It’s not about getting what you want; it’s knowing that you are gettingwhat you need. Right now and all through your life.

Endless World: An infinite realm of Divine Light in which the Light and Vessel areunited in one unified whole. The Endless World existed before the creation of ourphysical reality.

Free will: To react or not to react—that is the only question.

Game of Life: Life and death. Living and dying. Succeeding and failing. Lovingand hating. Laughing and crying. Rising and falling. Chaos and order. Love andheartbreak. Wealth and poverty. And everything in between. This is the Game ofLife. And the ultimate purpose is to climb out of all the darkness and wind up for-ever living in the Light.

Light, The: An infinite, endless Divine force of energy that expands as far as forever. The pure Essence of the Light is infinite happiness and endless fulfillment.

Opponent, The: The Ego. The rash impulse. The reactive emotion. Known bythe code word “the Satan.” This force was created to test and challenge us andignite reactive feelings within us so that we can resist the pleasure of these ego-centric responses. When we resist, we become proactive, Godlike beings. TheOpponent is so good at its job, we don’t even recognize its existence 99.999% ofthe time.

Proactive: Not reacting. Not whining. Not getting even. Letting go. Shutting downthe reactive impulse. Cooling off. Counting to 10. Counting to 11 if necessary.Once done, finding a positive way to deal with the situation.

Reactive: The reflex of anger. The impulse to hate. The immediate urge to take. The pressure to get even. The need to outdo and one-up. Complaining and victimconsciousness.

Resistance: In the Endless World, the Vessel stopped the Light from filling it. This stopping of Light is called resistance. When resistance took place, the Light withdrew, creating a vacuum—an empty space within the Endless World. Thisgave the Vessel a place and space where it could now become the cause andcreator of its own Light. From our human perspective, resistance refers to our freechoice to resist the instant gratification and immediate pleasure (reactive behavior)that arise from external stimuli. When we apply resistance, we become proactive;we become the cause of our own happiness, as opposed to allowing somethingexternal to influence us.

Shattering of the Vessel: Prior to the creation of our cosmos, the Vessel contained all the souls of humanity, past, present and future, as one unified soul.Just as a single shaft of white light contains all the colors of the spectrum, theVessel contained all the souls of humanity in one circular band of Light. During thecreation process, the Vessel shattered into pieces of all shapes and sizes. All thepieces of the shattered Vessel are all the souls of humanity, the animal kingdomand the vegetable kingdom. Yes, even the atoms that make up a slab of rock areminute sparks of the shattered Vessel.

Ten Sfirot, The: Ten dimensions or curtains created to gradually conceal theblazing Light of the Creator. By the time the Light reaches the tenth dimensionand curtain, it is so diminished in its brilliance that we have the illusion ofdarkness—a realm of death, chaos, time, and space. Welcome to Planet Earth.

Uncertainty: Doubt in the outcome. Being a victim. Blaming the messenger.Doubting the messenger’s message. Not perceiving and not believing and notknowing that the Light is in the Game with you, right now, in the heat of the battle, even in the most hopeless situation possible. Think about it: If you could see that ahopeless and frightening obstacle was to disappear three days hence, would youworry during those three days? Of course not! You would have certainty in theoutcome, and thus you would enjoy three peaceful days. The only reason weworry is that we doubt the outcome and the existence of the Light. Remember, the Opponent will delay an outcome just to create a space for uncertainty to enter.“It doesn’t work,” you cry out. And then you lose. Uncertainty wins.

Vessel, The: An infinite soul created by the Light to receive the endless pleasureand serenity that shines from the Light. You, me, your neighbor, and all the soulsof humanity, past, present and future, made up and constituted the entire Vessel.

Zohar, The: The most important book of Kabbalah. Not just a book of wisdom, but also, more importantly, a book of Light. Reading the Zohar does not just makeone wiser; it also makes one more pure. Merely meditating on the Zohar’s wordsand letters arouses endless rays of Light can do wonderful things in our lives. These rays can correct and elevate our souls. They can heal our body andregenerate our cells. They can transform our nature by dissolving away negative, reactive character traits. They can bring about miracles.
