They received badges that were pinned on by some very proud family members and made a leadership pledge in front of their peers, committing to their role as leaders in our school. Having spoken with many of our new SRC representatives, they will certainly continue making our school a great place to learn! It is important to remember that the school day begins at 8:55am. This means that any student arriving after this time is late and will be marked as absent until they collect a late note from the office. Please also remember that supervision of students begins at 8:30am and ends at 3:00pm. There are no teachers on duty before 8:30am or after 3:00pm. I understand that sometimes emergency situations arise and if you are delayed, please contact the school office so that arrangements can be made. Finally, information will be sent home shortly regarding Parent and Teacher Learning Conferences later this term. We are trialling a new system this year which will allow parents and carers to book interviews through a website themselves that suits their family commitments. MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Welcome back to another school year and our first newsletter for 2017!

Students are now established in their new classes and regular routines have begun. All students are aware of days for library, Community Language, and Fit Futures. Please make sure you help your child to organise themselves so that they are prepared to participate. It is difficult for students to participate in sporting activities when not in their sport uniform.

It was wonderful to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher evening, enjoying a sausage sizzle and meeting their child’s teachers for 2017. Talking to many parents and carers, I know that this event was a great way to find out more information about what the year holds in students’ new classes.

Congratulations to our SRC representatives who were inducted on Monday at a special assembly.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Ian Tapuska Principal

WELLBEING PLC Welcome back to a new school year, with new classes and new ideas. One thing that has continued this year is the school’s commitment to the Leader in Me. This is a whole school transformation process based on the model of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It teaches leadership, life skills, responsibility, problem solving and several other skills which are designed to encourage students to develop their full potential and that there is a leader in every child. Every two weeks, Liverpool Public School focuses on one of the 7 Habits. This week L.P.S is focusing on Habit 3: Put First Things First. Putting first things first means learning how to plan and how to manage your time so that our most important tasks are done. These habits can be implemented at home. Whether that be making sure our kids finish their homework then play, or showing our children we put the most important things first. Next Week’s Habit is Habit 4: Think Win-Win

SUNRISE READING PROGRAM Liverpool Public School is proud to announce The Sunrise Reading Program will continue in 2017. As we know the more you practise something the better you get. Students in Year 1 and Year 2 are given the opportunity to read picture books, camera words and phonemes with students in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. This is of great benefit to all the students involved as they get to practise their reading and listening skills. The readers are able to improve their fluency and the Sunrise Reading Leader show great care and leadership. The Sunrise Reading Program takes place in the School Library every day of the week between 8:30 am and 8:55 am. Students can attend as many days as they like. Thanks Mr D’Cruz and Mr McIntosh.
