BOOK REVIEW FOR “MAHASWETA” BY SUDHA MURTHY
I stumbled upon this book MAHASWETA by SUDHA MURTHY. And what erred me into
reading it was this line "Anupama's fairytale marriage to Anand falls apart." And I, at once
wanted to know, how did Anupama endure all this? What did she do?
Anupama a beautiful girl was married to Anand the 'PUNDARIKA' (lover in one of
the Sanskrit play) of her life, discovers a white patch which ruins her fairytale wedding.
What ruins most of her is her orthodox in-laws and an ignorant husband.
Abandoned by her family and shunned by the society, Anupama contemplates
suicide. But is death always an end? No. Never. That's what she thought. Why should she
end her life for people who do not care? That's when she decides to take up the offer of her
best friend and goes to Bombay and starts her career as a clerk, initially, and then as a
lecturer. She was determined to rebuild her life against all odds.
Sudha Murthy empowers women who face the prejudice in some way or other.
MAHASWETHA is indeed an inspiring story of courage in face of betrayal and
disappointment. As a page turner, it takes you on an emotional roller coaster. You start
questioning your own existence and at the end of the book, you find your answers too.

THE DECISION TO BE REVISED
Those soft giggles banging her head.
The moments to be cherished lies heavy in his mind.
A burden to their heart.
Like a droplet at the tip of a grass,
Unable to bear the heaviness
Still not want to let it flow away.
The two kids
Whose eyes now filled with love
For each other as well as for their own future
Glued to a decision making stage of life
Where their happiness lies?
In separate ways or
In sharing their lives?
Eyelashes of her plead the Lord
As now can't hurt itself anymore.
A fire burning
Has to be extinguished before
He converts into ashes.
Time to kill the time
Time to kill the silence
Their eyes meet
They are going to reveal their decision
Unfortunately,
One is going to reveal the truth
And one is going to reveal the heart.

END WAR, SAVE LIFE
In this world of confusion,
I cannot come to a conclusion
What'll happen to the world!?
Beautiful flower will surely wilt,
Nuclear war will turn the sky red.
There will be no bed; even
For the dead!
Every one of us must know
World war will never allow us to grow.
But all of us must remember
This earth we got to save
To avoid digging our own grave.
So...
STOP POLLUTING OUR MOTHERLAND.
