Dear Friends, I would like to highlight some important and special dates during this month of August and hope you can participate as much as possible. FR REPLOGLE: For more than 8 years Fr Jack Replogle has been coming (by train from Xavier HS in Manhattan) to assist us with the Sunday masses. On Sunday, August 15 he will celebrate his birthday – 88 years young as well as celebrating 70 years since becoming a Jesuit. Fr Jack will celebrate the 5 pm mass on Sunday, August 15.

PRISON MINISTRY: At many of the masses of August 15, get ready to hear from Fr Zach, a newly ordained priest who is a chaplain at our local prison- Rikers Island. We will hear the many beautiful things he is doing in his ministry and learn how we might assist in these works of mercy.

CATHOLIC MIGRATION: A staff member from

Catholic Migration Services will speak at our 10 am

(English); and 11:30 and 1 pm (Spanish) masses on Sunday

August 22. They will be presenting this list of services they

offer – especially for documented and undocumented

immigrants. The Church of our diocese works hard to

assist all immigrants. I think these announcements will be

beneficial to many here at St Bart’s.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL: We need to reach our parish goal of $114,000 before the end of the year we are now more than halfway there! We need to make this goal and can only do it if everyone gives generously. Next weekend we will be asking everyone to make a pledge toward this appeal. Working together we will make this goal! ST BARTS FEAST: we cannot forget our parish feast day on Tuesday, August 24 beginning with mass at 6:30 pm! Let’s all try and gather to celebrate the greatness of our parish! Me gustaría destacar algunas fechas importantes y especiales durante este mes de agosto y espero que puedan participar tanto como sea posible. FR REPLOGLE: Durante más de 8 años, el P. MONSIGNOR JOHN J GILDEA SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Due to COVID, we never celebrated Father Gildea becoming a Monsignor. Also, we weren’t able to celebrate his 80th birthday this past June. We have established an educational scholarship fund in Msgr Gildea’s honor! This scholarship will assist any REGISTERED PRACTICING Catholic family from St Barts parish who would like to transfer their child from public school to St Bartholomew Catholic Academy. It is our hope that each year we can distribute up to $20,000 in scholarships to our parish children who need it. Those donating $250 and above will be invited to a cocktail reception at St Bart’s Academy in October! Catholic education helps change the future of a child! Would you like to contribute to this fund in Msgr Gildea’s honor?
