History ofLive Oak Church of Christ
The Live Oak Church of Christ began as a congregation when one man and five ladies met for the first time in September of 1941 in a room of the Suwannee County Court House following a tent meeting with W. Douglas Harris. When locked out of the courthouse in 1944 they moved to a home of one of the members in the Magnolia House on Wilbur Street. In 1946 a lot was donated, a frame building erected, and E. G. Sewell, the first regular minister began preaching.
In 1953 a brick structure seating 250 was erected on Duval & Walker.
The church continuously sponsored a radio program "Let the Bible Speak" from 1952 until 1981.
In October 1986 the congregation moved into its present building on the Mayo Road (SR 51).
The congregation has been served by E. G. Sewell, Elam B. Kuykendall, Perryman Denison, Everette L. Williamson, Arthur Ogden, William V. Pierce, John D.
