Farewell Fr John Sunday 9th February after 10.30am

Mass, will have a farewell gathering for Fr John Herd. You may like to say thank you and good bye to Fr John

privately if unable to attend the lunch-eon. Please keep Fr John in your pray-ers as he moves onto another parish

at Glenelg.

Re-roof the Church We currently have $74,000 in kitty for the new roof. Thank you for a recent donation of $500. We are waiting to hear about a government grant of

$20,000. The new roof is expected to cost around $100,000 and while the

scaffolding is in use it is a good chance to paint the church. The paint-ing will be extra to that cost but it is the

right time to do it!! Thank you to all our donors. If you have given a dona-

tion to the roof and want to be acknowledged, can you please contact the parish office and let Trudy know.

JH World Marriage Day 2020

"Father, as we prepare for World Mar-riage Day, we thank you for your tre-mendous gift of the Sacrament of Mar-riage. Help us to witness to its glory by a life of growing intimacy. Teach us the beauty of forgiveness so we may become more and more One in Heart, Mind and Body. Strengthen our dia-logue and help us become living signs of your love. Make us grow more in love with the Church so we may renew the Body of Christ. Make us a sign of unity in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Brother. Amen" .

Dear Friends

I have been writing these bulletin letters for seven years with the hope that some people might read them and that they might be helpful. So, this is my last letter and I want to say thank you.

I remember arriving in Murray Bridge straight from the airport from my time in Rome. It took me a while to find my feet but also to find all the places I needed to visit. I was pleased with the warm wel-come I received from each of the communities. The first year was daunting as I was by myself and it improved a lot for me when Fr John Vildzius joined us. Now that I am leaving I am happy for him that people can call him Fr John and he will not doubt who is being addressed.

I have been impressed with the life of this parish: Christmas outdoor Mass, many altar servers, CWL and Knights, family groups, willing volun-teers, youth and committed faithful. And while our community is getting a bit older, we are still a vibrant community of faith. It is wonderful that we currently have five adult candidates who want to become Catholic through the RCIA. Our sacramental programme is strong. I am thankful for the Filipino, Vietnamese, African, Indian communities who add a rich-ness to our parish. I am grateful for the leadership of Pope Francis and his warmth and closeness with people.

As well as Fr JV, I want to thank Marg Daly, our pastoral associate, and Deb Holland and Catharina Slattery. Thanks to our staff Trudy, Jodie, Ruby Deanna & Kathleen. Thank you for your kindness and understanding. I feel I made some positive contributions but I know I made mistakes too, and I am conscious of my limitations. Please forgive me & pray for me!

God bless you and your families

Fr John Herd
