Let’s learn something
about the Apostles of
Jesus Christ.
Do we actually know their names?
Who were they?
The Holy Apostle Saint John was the
brother of the Apostle St. James the Great
and their father was Zebedee.
He was known as the “Beloved Disciple.”
At the time of Our Lord’s terrible ordeal,
His Passion and death, Saint John was the
only Apostle to stay with Our Lord until the
crucifixion on the Cross.
Among the Last Words of Jesus was “John behold thy Mother”. With these words He made
Saint John the guardian of His Mother Mary.
Saint John founded many Churches in Asia Minor.
Among the Books in the Holy Bible St. John wrote the Fourth Gospel, he wrote 3 Epistles and
the Book of Revelation the last Book of the Bible.
The Emperor Domitian ordered Saint John to come to Rome where soldiers captured him and
put him into a caldron of boiling oil. By a great miracle he came out unharmed.
Saint John died at an old age in Ephesus about the year 100 A.D.
His Feast Day is December 27.
Through our reading of the Bible may we grow to love what we read, may we become closer to
the Lord like Saint John was and may we live out what we read.
+ + + + + + + + + + + +
As we learn about the Apostles of Our Lord Jesus may we want to know more
about them and may we grow to love as they loved and live our Christian life the
way they did which may include giving our very life for the Lord if we have to.
The Apostle at the Last Supper with his head by
the heart of Jesus, is the Apostle St. John, the
Beloved Apostle.

You may be aware that we are conducting a
comprehensive survey of the entire diocese. The
purpose of the survey is to help gauge support for the
following projects that constitute our diocese master
plan:
Establishing new Maronite parishes throughout
the Eparchy
Funds to provide for the education of
seminarians
Caring for our retired priests
Enhancing Eparchy ministries by expanding
Youth Ministry and creating a Pro-Family
Ministry
Establishing a permanent Eparchy
Communications office
Creating a family catechesis program to
provide religious education to Maronites of all
ages
Enhancing Maronite liturgical life through
training for choirs and better translation of
liturgical materials into English
Bishop A. Elias Zaidan would like to thank everyone
who has already participated in the study. Your
thoughts are extremely valuable to him during this
planning process. If you have not yet responded to a
survey, you are encouraged to do so. Your input will
help the diocese make an informed decision regarding
the long-range plans for the Eparchy.
We hope to have all surveys completed by April 18,
2018 You may return your survey to the office or place
it in the offertory basket at any of the Masses.
You may also complete the survey online by going to
steiergroup.com/survey, clicking on Eparchy of Our
Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles and entering the
password: Lebanon.
