Activities, Contributions, Achievements: Dr. Dyer is active in his community and serves on committees and provides leadership in a number of educational arenas, including the Region 3 Superintendent Committee Chairman, Future-Ready Superintendent’s Leadership Network, and TEA School-To-Work Committee. He is a TASA Mentor Superintendent, serves on the Cuero Chamber of Commerce, Cuero Community Foundation, Keep Cuero Beautiful, and Texas DPS Humanitarian for Hurricane Harvey.

Activities, Contributions, Achievements: In 2005, Brandon opened his toy shop, Monkey See, Monkey Do!, in Austin’s South

Congress shopping district. Two years later, he opened the circus and sideshow-themed Big Top Candy Shop, which has since become a world famous confectionery and soda fountain. Brandon has appeared in a number of media outlets including Food Network, Travel Channel, The Today Show, Texas Country Reporter, and Superbowl commercials. Additionally, he is an author of role-playing game books and an avid collector. Brandon serves as the President of the South Congress Merchants Association and as a director on several boards of civic and historic interests.

Activities, Contributions, Achievements: Chief Lane Martin has been at the helm of the Orange Police Department since December of 2010. He began his law enforcement career in January of 1989 at the age of 21 in the Orange Police Department. January 2019 will mark his 30th year with the OPD. Chief Martin worked in the Patrol Division as well as the Detective Division prior to becoming a Captain I, II, and III, after which time he super-vised both of the divisions mentioned previously. As a Major Chief Martin was the supervi-sor of patrol officers, captains, and detectives before being named OPD Chief.

He is affiliated with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Texas Police Chief’s Association, and the FBI National Academy Association.

Jessica Patten Varner Class of: 1996 Inducted: 2018

Activities, Contributions, Achievements: Besides providing inter-vention therapy during crisis situations and loss of life, Jessica partici-

pates in the Social Work Leaders in Health Care of Metro St. Louis, Inc., is a member of American Association of Suicidology, and serves as a guest lecturer at St. Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis regarding evaluation and intervention for suicidal individuals.

Jessica mentors a graduate student from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, has been a guest commentator for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch addressing the topic of the rise of suicide in the veteran population, and published the results of her evaluation of The Mis-sion Continues, a local agency that works with disabled veterans.

Activities, Contributions, Achievements: Former Senior 1 Killer Whale Trainer for SeaWorld in California and Texas; Supervisor of killer whate training at Marineland in France; starred in the 2013 Documentary “Blackfish.” John is an

expert witness on whales for the government, including sponsoring and testifying for a historic bill, which became law in California. It prevents breeding orcas and forcing them to perform circus-like shows. In addition, orcas can no longer be transported or sold to other countries, making this the last generation of orcas in captivity. John is now a New York Times bestselling author with his book “Beneath the Surface.”
