Ailsa Pipers workshop will ocus on writing

in the frst person. It was the biggest

challenge she aced in writing Sinning

Across Spain, but was just as pressing when

she wrote the characters in her award-winning play Small Mercies.

How to locate that authentic voice, and not

censor it? How to fnd the I o a character,

even when the character isI? Whether as

    writer, director, workshop-leader or actor,

Ailsa has spent a lietime dealing with the

    twin challenges o authenticity and

sel-criticism. And she has many practical

techniques at her fngertips to help others

fnd a pain-ree way through the woods o

locating character and writing reely rom

it. Come and explore.Pens, paper, sot clothing and sense o

    humour are all vital.
