We are going to learn how to work more efficiently in a group, by using three important group roles.

Group Facilitator Group Reporter Group Recorder

Your job is to lead the discussion. You are not in charge, but you do decide whose turn it is to speak.

You must make sure that everyone has their chance to share their ideas.

You will be responsible for sharing the group’s ideas with the rest of the class.

Make sure you keep to the point and only include the important information.

You are responsible for writing down the key points which are discussed in your group.

Make sure that you make a note of the important things your group says .

In your groups you are going to write a rap/song for the Celebration of Champions

A rap is a song

without musicRaps are spoken but songs are sung

Your rap/ song can deliver a message

Parents have lost their

jobs and can’t pay for

enough food

Your rap/song

might tell a story

Some lines can

be short, some

can be long

Most raps rhyme

in ‘couplets’

More than one person might perform the rap/song together

‘Couplets’ are two lines at a time e.g. The sun shone bright - Clearing the thoughts of the dark night

Lots of rappers use this popular rhythm for their lyrics

da DUM da da DUM da da DUM da DUMda DUM da da DUM da da DUM da DUM

da DUM da da DUM da da DUM da DUMda DUM da da DUM da da DUM da DUM

The last words of your first two lines should rhyme.

Then the last words of your other two lines should rhyme.

Taking your rap/song further

As well as performing your rap/song at

the Assembly of Champions:

Will you record it?

Will you upload it to the school website?

Will you have a backing track?

Are you going to have dance moves?

Could you put it on a DVD and sell it to parents to raise more money?
