Numeracy
Mental Arithmetic Core Learning ICT Support We are learning to use different mental strategies for addition
and subtraction.
We are learning to accurately identify place value to 3
decimal places
Thursday 4th June at 11am – meet on Teams to discuss
what’s happened up to Chapter 14 in Harry Potter.
See Mathletics (3P Learning) Addition and Subtraction
worksheets below.
Only five worksheets this week – remember this is mental
practice even though you’re writing it down – don’t just do
the sums, estimate your answers by rounding and make sure
you’re thinking about your thinking!
Ask for help if you need it.
1. Complete Sumdog Challenge – how confident are
you with Place Value? Does your Sumdog score
reflect your confidence?
2. Where in life might you see decimals (i.e. Olympics
when timing a race)? Create a list of places you may
see decimals. If you are really stuck, try and look
around your house as their will be plenty of
examples.
3. Complete attached TeeJay worksheets on Place
Value. There are two choices, a sheet from TeeJay
2a and one from TeeJay 2B. Pick the sheet that you
believe will give you the most challenge.
4. Complete the Sumdog Assessment.
Mr McRae will share the answers on Friday for both worksheets.
If you are struggling, please leave a comment on Teams and
either Mrs Matthews or Mr McRae will help you.
Other Areas Health and Wellbeing
We are learning across the curriculum. Choose at least three tasks – or do them all! We are learning to consider our own health and set
personal targets to achieve this month.
Art: Energy Agency Lockdown calendar competition –Closing date 19th June
COAST topic: Use ICT to find out more about coastal erosion and longshore drift. What have Christmas trees got to do with it?
https://youtu.be/f-Z8FwDLQL8 https://youtu.be/j1wBgnULDk8 If you have playdoh or tinfoil or even blu-tak, try to make a
model of how you think a cave, arch and stack might form. Also try the worksheet attached below.
ICT: Animation. Watch the Powerpoint (attached) Discuss on Teams different types of animation you recognise or would like to
try. Work alone or in a pair or trio to make a short animation to share with the class. Be ready to explain your process.
ICT 2: You are all great – try this and think about how your learning would be affected if we didn’t follow the rules online:
https://www.brainpop.com/technology/digitalcitizenship/digitaletiquette/
Watch and/or read Newsround at least once every week: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround Try the worksheet for today:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround#more-stories-5 Choose one story you found most interesting and write about it, including
your feelings – if it is Covid-related you could do this in your Co-blog.
Music / Drama: If you’re interested, this is Week 3 of a 5 week programme. We would love to see some of you taking part – and
please share what you’re doing! https://www.scottishopera.org.uk/fever
Music: Chrome music lab: https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/ play around with all the different features, experiment with
rhythm and melody. Share any of your creations on Mircosoft Teams with the class.
Science: Dissect a daffodil…ok, we know we’re too late for daffodils but try it with a different large flower – share your photos or
video on Teams! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1H3uGR_1sc
Set your own Health and Wellbeing target for the rest of
June – do you think you need to prioritise your mental
or physical health just now? Remember Lesley, the
Pilates lady, said that whatever you find difficult is
probably what you need to do most!
Share your target with the class if you want – or just with
your teacher – or keep it to yourself, but be ready to
discuss your progress with your targets at the end of
June. Remember to keep things achievable.
Check in on your friends and family and just be kind.
How about making your own Sports Day challenges
and showing or telling us how you did? This year
everyone could come first! (Possible exception of
Emma, Jordyn, Valentino and Benito!)
Spelling Chilli Challenge
From the word lists below, select the set that will challenge you at an appropriate level. Give yourself a spelling test using the words
before you start – words you get correct straight away may not need more work. If your spelling is great at the start of the week, your
focus is on using the words correctly in sentences. Talisman group – use your own lists but feel free to use these lists too!

yourselves on Twitter – but we’d love you to share your piece of
work with us too!
If you have any problems with Twitter, send us your entry and we’ll
submit it for you. Please encourage younger and older siblings to
