As both a woman-owned business and a HUB Zone business (a designation by the Small Business Administration for small companies that operate in “historically underutilized business zones”), Prineville’s Titus Industrial Group is poised for growth.

Founded in 1999 by Lewis and Jeane’e Titus, TIG is a collection of companies dedicated to solving clients’ problems with sewer, storm water and industrial wastewater. About 90 percent of TIG’s clients are municipalities, and 10 percent are industrial companies.

“We want people to know that we are a local company,” says Lewis, TIG’s vice president. “We are moving into manufacturing, and will be hiring quality employees over the next six months.” He adds that the City of Prineville has been supportive of TIG, using the company for aeration and algae control systems.

As a pipeline mechanic, Lewis started TIG when he discovered that a new type of pipe wrap, a corrosion control tape product may have many other applications than just for corrosion control on steel pipe. “We found it would bind to concrete and to polyethylene, PVC truck tarps without a primer,” Lewis explains. TIG began selling tape into specialty markets world-wide.

Today, TIG specializes in corrosion control for steel pipe and concrete structures that are watertight, including wastewater treatment plants and large diameter pipelines.

TIG eventually expanded the business to include other products for the wastewater industry including aeration and water treatment equipment.

In 2008 TIG took on a new non-metallic fiberglass road service Manhole frame & Cover. These covers are a fraction of the weight, and much stronger than cast iron covers, and do not corrode. TIG developed a new lock system for composite covers that are made right here in Central Oregon, and are now specified across the country and the world. TIG is the largest distributor for composite frames and covers in the USA.

“We have been with PayneWest for three years and it’s the best insurance company we have ever had,” says Jeane’e. “Our agents Pat Boyle and Sharon Davidson check in with us regularly to make sure we have everything we need.”
