Activity 1: Guessing city’s name Look at pictures of some famous
cities in the world before and now. Guess the cities’ names. With each correct answer in the
first 5 seconds, you get 20 points. With each correct answer in the last
5 seconds, you get 10 points. The group raising hands first has a
chance to answer.
Before Now
Before you listen :
Look at the two pictures of the town Popffero. Discuss the differences between them .
Group 1,3: write down 4 descriptive sentences about picture in the past, basing on the structures:
“In the past, the town used to have…” “In the past, there weren’t/ wasn’t…” E.g: In the past, the town used to have only small houses
Group 2,4: write down 4 descriptive sentences about picture at the present, basing on the structures:
“but now there are/is…” “but now the town has…” E.g: but now there are tall buidings
-Group 1 work with group 2 -Group 3 work with group 4 -Match sentences in the past and now to
make reasonable sentences. Group with more reasonable sentences
will be the winner.
What is the difference between the road in Picture 1 and 2 ?
The road in the second picture is resurfaced.
- All of you are tourist guides at Popffero Town in England.
- There is a handsome boy, Bi Rain, who wants to visit Popffero but he does not know much about Popffero.
- You can help him by answering his five Yes-No questions based on the information that you hear from the tape.
- If your answer is No. Please, write the correct answer. Ex, “No. Popffero is on the north coast of England”
1.Is Popferro on the west coast of England?
2.Did Popffero use to be a tourist resort?
3.Does the town no longer have its old atmosphere?
4.Are there more green trees in the town now than used to be?
5.Does everybody in the town like its changes?
