Unit 4 Song: Guidelines for parents and guardians

Walking through the jungle. What can you see? I can see a crocodile looking at me!

A crocodile … a crocodile Snap … snap … snap!

Walking through the jungle. What can you see? I can see a tiger looking at me!

A tiger, a tiger Roar … roar … roarrrrr!

Walking through the jungle. What can you see? I can see a snake looking at me!

A snake, a snake Hiss … hiss … hissssss!!

Walking through the jungle. What can you see? I can see an elephant looking at me!

An elephant, an elephant Stomp, stomp, stomp

Walking through the jungle!!

Say a sentence about one of the animals in the picture (e.g. It’s an elephant.). Your child points to the correct animal. He/She can also make sentences for you to point. Point to one of the animals and ask, e.g. Is it an elephant? (Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.) Repeat for different animals, mixing up questions that make ‘yes’ and ‘no’ answers.

Play the song. Encourage your child to join in with the words and the animal noises and to point to the animals in the picture. Give the child crayons to colour the picture. When he/she has finished, point at the animals and ask questions, e.g. Is the elephant purple? (No, it isn’t.) Is the snake green?
