Listen

Listen is an app that allows kids to collect and explore the sounds around them while also

discovering and learning about sounds that they have never heard before

It is similar to snapchat but revolves around collecting sounds rather than sharing pictures. It similarly has a “Discover” feature and educational portion

Insights and Assumptions• Kids associate the definition of sound with actual

sounds that elicit memories or experiences

• Headphones are often thought of as a personal space or distraction

• Road trips are a shared source of nostalgia and emotion

• Kids naturally love the outdoors and will possibly engage in educational play if it is hidden behind the idea of nature

Page 7: Listen Deck (1)

Insights and Assumptions• Kids grow incredibly quickly and tastes change rapidly

• Design toys that can adapt to changing interests and are timeless

• “I used to play with legos when I was a kid” (he is only 9)

• Kids engage in vicarious play through the use of dolls and stuffed animals

• Test whether you can engage a child in sound by giving them a figure to mimic/engage alongside

• Kids love movement, interaction, and collaboration

Mom’s POV• Safety is priority

• Diversity and immersion in topics that extend beyond school education is important

• Would value a toy that doesn't age quickly
