1 In the plenary session of COP9, the Argentine delegation made a reservation to the admission as an observer of the British

NGO ‘UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum’ and requested that this be recorded in the report of the Conference and in any list of participants or other appropriate document with the following text:

“A dispute exists between the Governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

concerning sovereignty over the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), South Georgias Islands (Islas Georgias del sur) and South Sandwich Islands (Islas Sándwich del sur), and the surrounding maritime areas”.

The UK requested that the following text also be included: “The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and

Northern Ireland has no doubt about its sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.”

Pendant la plénière de la COP9, la délégation de l’Argentine a introduit une réserve à l’admission d’un observateur de l’ONG britannique ‘UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum’ et a demandé que ce souhait soit consigné dans le procès-verbal de la Conférence, ainsi que sur toute liste de participants ou autre document pertinent, avec le texte suivant :

« Un litige oppose le gouvernement de la République d’Argentine et le gouvernement du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d’Irlande du Nord à propos de la souveraineté sur les îles Falkland (Islas Malvinas), la Géorgie du Sud et les îles Sandwich du Sud, ainsi que sur les espaces maritimes environnants ».

Le Royaume-Uni a demandé que le texte suivant soit également inclus : « Le gouvernement du Royaume-Uni de Grande-Bretagne et d’Irlande du Nord n’a aucun doute quant à sa souveraineté sur les îles Falkland, de Géorgie du Sud et Sandwich du Sud’. »

Durante la sesión plenaria de la COP9 la delegación argentina introdujo una reserva a la admisión en calidad de observador del representante de la ONG nacional británica “UK Overseas Territories Conservation Forum” y solicitó que se registrara en el informe de la Conferencia y que en toda lista de participantes u otra documentación pertinente se incluya una nota con el siguiente texto:

‘Existe una controversia entre los Gobiernos de la República Argentina y el Reino Unido de Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte con respecto a la soberanía sobre las Islas Malvinas, (Falkland Islands), Georgias del Sur , Sándwich del Sur y los espacios marítimos circundantes’.

El gobierno del Reino Unido de Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte solicitó que el siguiente texto también fuera incluido: ‘El Gobierno del Reino Unido de Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte no tiene duda acerca de su soberanía sobre las Islas Falkland, Georgia del Sur y South Sandwich’.
