EXECUTIVE REPORT
Welcome back to all our students, parents and the greater school com-
munity. It has been a hectic start to the term, but already we are seeing
excellent achievements from our students.
We have some new teachers on staff for the year. Jason Chan has trans-
ferred from the Broken Hill area into the maths faculty. Georgina Mor-
ris has arrived in the PE faculty, replacing Whitney Sloan whilst she is on
maternity leave, and Trista Valentine is filling a temporary vacancy in
PDHPE for the year.
Our focuses for 2020 are Stage 3 to 4 Feedback project, Reading to
Learn and STEM. These programs will have a profound effect on the
learning of students at Lismore High Campus, and I look forward detail-
ing this journey for you all through the Newsletter.
Opportunities have always been a cornerstone of the Lismore High
Campus, and this year will be no different. Apart from the new learning
opportunities through our three focus areas, there is already planning
underway to provide students with boys’ leadership camps, a snow trip,
school captains’ visits to Government house, art excursions and for the
first time in many years, a Year12 camp at the Sport and Rec Centre at
Lake Ainsworth. We are committed to supporting students who not
only learn, but are positive contributors to their community, and
through opportunity and innovation Lismore High Campus will continue
to lead the way in the Northern Rivers.

SCHOOL PHOTOS
School photos will be taken in Week 4 Monday 17th February. There will be a catch up day on Friday 21st of Febru-
ary for those who are absent on Monday. Students must wear full formal school uniform, NOT the yellow sport
shirt, on photo day. Order envelopes will be distributed to students soon.
DEPUTY REPORT FOR YEARS 8, 10, 12
Year 12 students have started the year well. It was great to see them presented to the Lismore High Campus community as our senior students of 2020 during the Investiture Assembly. It is approximately 35 weeks until the start of the HSC. Our students should be looking at completing two hours of study per week, outside of assessment tasks, which means that if they keep to a study timetable they could complete 70 hours of study per subject before the HSC exams begin. (A free, downloadable, weekly study timetable can be accessed at https://onlinestudyaustralia.com/study-planner-timetable/ )
Students from Years 7-11 received their assessment booklets on the 10th Feb (Year 12 students received theirs last year). The back page is a great resource for parents/carers. Have your student highlight all of the subjects they are studying, pop it on the fridge or their study board and you will then know the week that each of their assessment tasks is due. Assessment task notifications will come out two weeks in advance of the week that a task is due, so you will always know when your student should have information about assessment tasks that they need to complete. Stu-dents who were absent on Monday, should see their Year Advisor to collect a hard copy of their assessment booklet. If you would like access to a digital copy of any of
the assessment booklets they are all available on our school website at https://lismore-h.schools.nsw.gov.au/learning-at-our-school/assessment-and-reporting.html

EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
On Saturday the 8th of February I entered the Far North Coast Regional Showgirl for 2020. I was interviewed by one
of three judges beforehand and then another on stage. In the running were 14, 15 and an 18 year olds (I’m 14).
After the stage interview the winner and runner-up were announced. When they called runner-up “Kate Hepburn”
I was speechless (and my mum was crying).
I represented North Coast National Show (Lismore Show) with pride and passion. It was the greatest experience of
my life!
