SpecificationsRanges: 0-50 ppb, 0-100 ppb, 0-200 ppb, 0-250 ppb, 0-300 ppb,

0-500 ppb, 0-1.0 ppm, 0-2.0 ppm, 0-2.5 ppm, 0-5.0 ppm, 0-10 ppm, 0-20 ppm, 0-30 ppm, 0-50 ppm, and 0-100 ppm

Method: Silica is determined colorimetrically as silicomolybdousacid (heteropoly blue method) or as silicomolybdic acid;analytical wavelength and cell path length depend on meas-urement range. The analyzer measures molybdate-reactivesilica only.

Sampling Method: Batch; update rate is every 12-20 minutes(depends on application). Typical is 15 minutes.

Precision: ±1% of full scale

Detection limit: ±1% of full scale

Calibration standards: zero and full-scale standard for eachmeasurement range.

Automatic calibration: Blank and full scale: every 72 hours, requires about 40 min.

Reagent consumption: 5 L of each reagent every 3 months

Standard consumption: 5 L of standard and 5 L of baseline solutionevery 3 months

Sample requirements:Flow: 10-15 mL/min (minimum)

Pressure: <10 psig (<170 kPa) (overflow cup must drain toatmosphere)

Temperature: 0-50°C (32-122°F)

Filter: 8 micron filter in sample inlet line is recommended.

Multiple sample option:

Up to six sample streams, measured sequentially.

Single output (standard): Output corresponds to samplecurrently being measured. A stream identification markeron a chart recorder indicates the start of each new sample.

Multiple output (optional): Each sample has its own output. The output holds last value when the analyzer changes tothe next sample stream.

Outputs:

4-20 mA or 0-5 Vdc (non-isolated). Isolated output is optional.

Load requirements for 4-20 mA output: 450 Ω (minimum),1200 Ω (maximum).

Load requirement for 0-5 Vdc output: 10k Ω (minimum).

Outputs are not scalable. The range of the outputs is thesame as the measurement range.

Parallel output for printer. Standard on multi-stream instru-ment. Optional on single stream instrument.

RS232C output is standard on multi-stream instrument, optional on single stream instrument.

Alarms:

General: process alarms for streams 1 through 6, leak detec-tion, LED failure, and calibration in progress.

Stream 1: separate high and low alarm relays; contacts arerated 2 A at 250 Vac or 3 A at 30 Vdc; delay on/off time is 1 min.

Streams 2 through 6 (multiple output option): one alarmrelay for each stream; alarm can be configured as high orlow; contacts have dc ratings only: 100 Vdc (maximum), 10VA (maximum), 1.0 amp (maximum - carry only), 0.5 amp(maximum - switched); delay on/off time is 1 min.

Display: Single line LCD; 4 1/2 digits; readout in concentrationunits. For multi-stream option, display remains at last value

Principles of OperationThe heart of the CFA3030 Silica analyzer is the valve pump. Thevalve pump has separate pumping elements for sample, reagents, and standards. Each pump element consists of achemically inert flexible membrane in a cavity. Cavity volumesare 5 mL for sample and standards and 0.2 mL for reagents. Avacuum/pressure pump pushes and pulls on the membrane.Vacuum causes the chamber to fill. Pressure pushes the liquidout of the cavity into the reaction chamber. Check valves pre-vent backflow. A stream of air pumped into the reaction cham-ber mixes the sample and reagents. After the reaction time haspassed, the treated sample is pumped to the measurement cell.Light from an LED at 820 nm, 660 nm, or 460 nm (the wave-length depends on the range of silica being measured) passesthrough the sample and a photodiode measures the light inten-sity. The analyzer automatically calculates the absorbance andtranslates the results into a silica concentration reading. Oncethe measurement is complete, repeated flushes with fresh sam-ple remove the treated sample from the measurement andreaction cells.

Parts and Accessories

NOTE: A biannual reagent and valve pump service contract is available and is recommended. To order the reagent and pump servicecontract, provide a blanket purchase order for eight reagent and standard kits (two-year supply). The kits will be sent in regularintervals over the 24-month period. Once during the 24-month period you will be entitled to a valve pump refurbishment.Contact Rosemount Analytical for details concerning the valve pump refurbishment.
