A Stowe Lion (or ‘All Lion’) is a Stoic that represents a Lion Society Sport at 1st Team Level for a complete season (Academic Term). Stoics that represent two Lion sports are a ‘Two times all Lion’ , ‘Three times all Lion’, etc. For Coldstream Cup recognition Stoics must participate in all activities and represent Stowe at any 1st Team Sport (including non-society sports - e.g. Waterpolo, tennis, athletics, etc.) For X-Country recognition Stoics must likewise represent Stowe at 1st Team level and finish within the top 15 percentile of results.

SocS ('socks') stands for ‘Society Sports’ and are the seven sports that make up the Lions. The phrase SocS is also referred to as the 1st Team Captains of these society sports, together they committee the society and its movement.

A school mascot will be acquired through fundraising, which, along with the logo, will become the face or symbol of Stowe sport elitism. Volunteers have been recognized who will rota the mascot parading duties alongside major lions events at home and perhaps at major away matches such as the Daily Mail Cup, Nationals, etc. We also hope the mascot will attend all away fixtures to other mascot schools & colleges.

The Lion will wear an XXL version of the original Stowe Sharks cardigan which was designed for Stowe’s 1st IV rowing crew & 1st Singles in 2011 (Origin behind ‘Sharks’, reinstated Lions’ in 2012). It will become the school mascot’s uniform and available for purchase by members of SocS.

Click on the image panelbelow to view the cardigan.

The SocS Cup will be awarded at Stowe Speech Day by a current Society Captain. The cup, unofficially a ‘House Cup’, will average house merit

league tables, inter-house sport leagues and Coldstream Cup rankings. However no-works, defaulters and sanctions discredit house point

averages.

A member of SocS will update the cup’s league board every 6 weeks with current point standings. The board will likely be located on the pin board outside the school deputies offices or in the Hall outside the Senior tutors

office.

The cup will promote hard work on and off the field. Averaging academics with sports and giving a sense of worth to that

geography merit or inter-house match result.

Although the tie design on the left is merely an inspiration and in fact the US Presidential tie, it still expresses the design we are looking for by replacing the current logos with gold woven Lion faces.

The tie would be awarded to all society captains at the beginning of the academic year or speech day. (Equivalent Navy Blue and Gold Pins will be available for girls) The tie will also be presented to Stoics of high sporting achievement. Such an achievement could be Rowing at Championships, Playing Cricket, Hockey, Rugby, Lacrosse, etc. for England U18s. Alternatively a Stoic could be awarded SocS Colours for gaining a ‘three times all lion’ title.

The account was originally set up for the benefit of StoweRowing.co.uk however it has recently been converted to accommodate all Lion Sports. SocS captains will be the only ones to have access to this account via mobile phones. They will tweet their teams training progress, match results, tour reports and all things lions. The use of hashtags ‘#’ will be used by follow-ers to identify sports. (For example; Stowe Rugby tweet ends with a #StoweRugby)
