Linoleum xf A surface revolution!

Linoleum xf construction

Urethane polymer- based surface treat-ment with particle reinforcement

Solid linoleum Jute backing

For more than a hundred years, linoleum flooring has been appreciated for its many strong benefits – its naturalness, comfort, durability and, most of all, its beauty. Now another important benefit can be added to the list: a surface protection that gives superior resistance to abrasion and chemicals as well as easy cleaning and maintenance. The daily care of linoleum flooring is a completely different story from now on. It gives a totally new economic picture, with excellent life cycle costs.

Tarkett presents Linoleum xf – a true surface revolution. With Linoleum xf, there are no longer any limitations to consider when you choose linoleum flooring. From beginning to end, Linoleum xf will give you all the advantages you could wish for:• Extremely strong surface toughness – second only to diamonds• Excellent resistance to abrasion, stains and chemicals• No initial wax or polish needed – no need to strip• Easy cleaning and maintenance, 30% saving on maintenance costs• More than 50% saving on water, detergent and energy• Excellent life cycle cost

The Mohs scale of hardness characterises the scratch resistance of various materials through the ability of a harder material to scratch a softer material.

Surface toughness second only to diamondsThanks to the permanent molecular cross-linking of the urethane formulation, the xf-treated surface is extremely resistant. On the Mohs scale of hardness, only diamond is tougher.

Abrasion resistance for xfThe abrasion resistance for xf shows remarkable results, compared with regular surface treatment for resilient flo-or-ing. Surface treatment loss is measured in a modified Taber test, where a wheel covered with emery paper and loaded with a 1 kg weight rotates on the surface. The emery paper is renewed every 20 revolutions to maintain the abrasive action. When the surface treatment is worn out, the number of revolutions is noted.

Abrasion test based on internal Tarkett Laboratory testing.

Life cycle cost for Linoleum xfThe cost of the initial investment and installation normally represents just a small part of a flooring’s total life cycle cost. The rest is cleaning and maintenance. And that is why the reduced frequency and extent of cleaning and maintenance give Linoleum xf a very favour-able life cycle cost. Compared with untreated linoleum flooring, payback on the extra investment comes within one year. For more information, please contact your Tarkett representative.

Cleaning costs – savings for 1000 m

Cleaning and maintenance costs are reduced by 30%. Example: For an area of 1,000 m2 over a period of 10 years, the savings will reach 60,000 euro.

Based upon internal Tarkett LCC (Life Cycle Cost) calculations.

Resource consumptionThanks to the easy cleaning properties of Linoleum xf, there is a 50% reduction in the consumption of water, detergent and energy. This is a strong contribution to the environment.

Linoleum xf simplified and

reduced cleaning methods,

compared with non-xf linoleum

The single greatest advance for Linoleum xf is the re-duced cleaning and main-tenance. Compared with untreated linoleum floor-ing, several steps are no longer necessary, and the whole cleaning and main-tenance process is simpli-fied. Always follow Tarkett’s cleaning and maintenance system to be sure to get the very best result.

Cleaning in three easy stepsOur unique surface protec-tion makes it possible to reduce cleaning and maintenance to three easy steps, yet still get top flooring performance in every way.

Linoleum xf – cleaning and maintenance

Dry mopping: Removes dust and dirt from the floor. Use dry or impregnated yarn, micro-fibre or disposable mops.

An effective barrier matting system should be installed at all entrances to the building, because 80% of dirt and soiling enters this way.

Vacuum cleaning: Removes dust and loose dirt from the floor. Can be used instead of mopping in confined spaces.

Damp mopping: The mop is moistened with water or detergent solution. Use either a very well wrung out mop or by spraying the mop directly. Water must not be deposited on the floor. The floor must be virtually dry after 15-20 seconds.

Spot/stain removal: Removal soiling marks during cleaning using a beige/red nylon pad with a neutral detergent and water solution. Then wipe with clean water.

Combined machine: May be recommended for very heavy traffic areas. The machine scrubs, cleans and collects the soiled water in one procedure. Both brushes and pads can be used. A beige/red pad is usually sufficient. Mains- or battery-powered machines in various sizes and cylinder brush types are available.

. Daily/regular cleaning

1. Preventive care

. Periodic cleaning

Wet mopping: To remove old stains and dirt, use a wrung-out yarn mop. The yarn should be damp enough for the flooring to need wiping afterwards.

High-speed spray cleaningHigh-speed (1000-1200 rpm) spray cleaning with diluted detergent (usually pH 5-9) according to soiling, or scrubbing with red/green pad and diluted detergent (usually pH 5-9) and wet vacuuming. Rinse.

Dry buffingUse a high-speed buffing machine with a white pad to restore gloss if required.

Stain testQuantities (2 ml) of isopropanol, acetone, coffee and betaisodona on the different linoleum surfaces for 2 hours, and the changes were measured in accordan-ce with DIN 5033-3. The results show that Linoleum xf has significantly better resistance to aggressive sub-stances like these, in terms of visual surface change. Based upon internal testing

Tests are carried out by the WFK Insti-

tute in Germany. WFK is an indepen-

research centre in Krefeld, Germany.

Founded in 1950, it now specialises in

hard surface cleaning technologies.

Both internal and external testing show extra-ordinary results for Linoleum xf. External tests by WFK compared Linoleum xf with non-xf treated linoleum. And the results speak for themselves.

Relying on the same strong surface layer qualities as the traditional Veneto range, Tarkett Veneto Soluzione comes with unique advantages – its modular format and its self-locking system. The benefit of this is simple, reliable and glue-free installation.

Veneto Soluzione is based on a three-layer construc-tion consisting of the 2 mm linoleum surface, the 6.8 mm core and the 1.2 mm cork base layer, giving a total thick-ness of 10 mm. The core backing reduces impact sound.

Veneto Soluzione is available in two modular sizes: 915x305 mm and 305x305 mm. The design, in 14 colours, co-ordinates with the Veneto range.

When acoustic properties are needed, Tarkett Veneto Acoustic is an excellent choice. This two-layer construction consists of the traditional Veneto linoleum, with all its strong material qualities, pre-bonded to a Tarkett cork underlay.

The unique construction and the manufacturing process, involving temperature and high pressure, give a flooring material that minimises the effect of impact noise. Veneto Acoustic also offers greater elasticity, thermal insulation and comfort underfoot plus an increased sense of well-being.
