LINOCUT BOOTCAMP Introductory Level Relief Printmaking Workshop Where: Art 321 Date: June 30th Time: 10 am-3 pm Ever been interested in printmaking? Have you done printmaking and want to brush up on some relief printmaking skills and maybe learn some new things while you are at it? Join local printmaker Nate Abel for a pop up printmaking workshop June 30th and get your ink on! This hands on workshop will cover the basics of relief printmaking using linoleum blocks, printing a single color as well as techniques for producing multiple color prints. Nate will demonstrate how to utilize the letterpress at Art 321 to print as well as using a simple wooden spoon to print relief blocks at home without a press. Participants will leave class with a small edition of prints and the basics of relief printmaking on their own. Supplied tools and materials: Brayers, Pallet Knives, Honing Blocks, Newsprint, Ink and Clean Up Supplies Suggested tools and materials: A basic set of Relief Carving tools (ie Power Grip 5 Piece Carving tool set), a Wooden spoon, Light Weight Western Paper (i.e. Strathmore 300 Printmaking Paper, Rives Lightweight), A Sketchbook, pencil(s), Black Sharpies (Fine/Extra Fine) and a Red Chisel Tip Sharpie.
