Three takeaways from this session1.) Reaching 100% completion of your
LinkedIn profile2.) LinkedIn etiquette3.) Finding connections, where to begin
Complete all sections of your profile•Profile photo
• Make this a professional photo/headshot• Use a photo where you are dressed professionally or
have someone take a photo of you if you don’t have one
•Job positions, years within that position•Details of your education•Provide detailed keyword description of what you have done (skills/specialties) and what your company does.
• Be as detailed as possible and include keywords, this helps make your profile more searchable when people are doing searches.
•Add websites to your profile and change the heading to say something other than “website”
Complete all sections of your profile (continued)•Professional headline
• This is basically your elevator pitch, more than just your title, but what are your duties/responsibilities
•Get a recommendation• To get a recommendation the easiest way is to ask,
but instead of just asking for someone to recommend you, complete a recommendation for them. They will then be more likely to return the favor and recommend you
LinkedIn Etiquette LinkedIn Etiquette • Once you develop your profile, you want to check it daily
• Login in daily to see if there are any new requests/connections/messages
• Monitor what is going on• Newsfeed• Groups/discussions• Answers
• LinkedIn is an online networking tool, not a sales tool• Many businesses will say that they have great
success from LinkedIn with getting clients or closing business, but that comes through the connections/relationships you make. Don’t look at LinkedIn as a place to sell your business, but a place to grow your professional network
LinkedIn Etiquette LinkedIn Etiquette (continued)
• Use it as a place to find insight on common questions/issues you may have within your business/industry
• Use it as a place to provide your insight and feedback regarding hot topics within your industry
• Remain professional at all times• This isn’t facebook or twitter where people are more
laid back. Keep that in mind when connecting with people, sharing updates, news and answering questions in discussions and answers
Finding Connections, Where to Finding Connections, Where to BeginBegin
• Importing contacts from your email account

Finding Connections, Where to Finding Connections, Where to BeginBegin
• Find connections using LinkedIn search features• Search by name• Advance search
• Search by keywords, job titles, industry, company, etc
(continued)• Use your connections to connect with their connections
• Two Degrees• Three Degrees
