• Sistem menjadi bagian dari sistem yang lebih besar (yang disebut supersystem atau metasystem). Sistem juga terbentuk dari beberapa sistem yang lebih kecil (yang disebut subsystem).
• Beberapa sistem ter-agregasi dan bersinergi secara terpadu membentuk supersystem. Dan sistem dapat terdekomposisi menjadi beberapa subsystem yang saling berinteraksi simultan dan terintegrasi.
• Semakin sempit lingkup sistem yang dipelajari, semakin detail dan terstruktur permasalahannya. Semakin luas lingkup sistem yang dipelajari, semakin kompleks dan majemuk permasalahannya.
