JANUARY MINUTES:

• The Lambda Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International met January 9, 2018, at 4:30pm in Room 196 at Copperas Cove High School. Twelve members were present.

• Evelyn Thompson, Second Vice-President, called the meeting to order. Lou Ann Sasscer, a Delta Kappa Gamma transfer from Louisiana, was welcomed. Lou Ann is a teacher in the Killeen schools.

• Evelyn Thompson then introduced Elaine Krause who gave a presentation of the chartering of Lambda Omicron, May 3, 1981, and its Charter Members. Gamma Alpha of Gatesville, Texas, was Lambda Omicron's Mother Chapter. Comments were made about the Charter Members and their contributions. Elaine Krause and Ann Harmon are the remaining active Charter Members in Lambda Omicron.

• Lisa Yates, Area 8 Coordinator, reminded members that the Alpha State Convention will be in Waco at the Waco Convention Center June 14-16. Members should go online to register and make hotel reservations. Volunteers from Area 8 are needed for a successful convention.

• The next chapter meeting is February 6. Chapter members should be ready with nominations for new members at that time. Also, the final collection of Teddy Bears for the year will be made for presentation to the Copperas Cove Police Department.

• Lambda Omicron Chapter Treasurer, Carolyn Taylor, is setting up a special bank account for the September Area 8 Workshop. Lambda Omicron members present approved the signees to be treasurer, Carolyn Taylor, Lambda Omicron President 2016-2018, Darlen Ness, and Lambda Omicron President-elect 2018-2020, B. J. Taylor whose duties begin at the end of July 2018.

• The Inspirational Thought was brought by Lisa Yates. Lisa gave a moving account of how the Copperas Cove High School Spanish teachers and students welcomed 12 students from Puerto Rico displaced by hurricane destruction.

• Carol Hawkins then gave a report of her and Ella Dawn Eiland buying Christmas gifts for three high school Communities in Schools (CIS) students.

• The meeting was adjourned at 6:00pm.

Respectfully yours, Ella Dawn Eiland, Secretary

Annie 2018 Friendly Reminder Have you chosen a program for the Waco Annie Extravaganza? This year the Annie programs will be presented in a slideshow format. Each chapter is asked to select a program to showcase at the Waco Convention. The slideshow will be shown prior to meetings and events during the convention. To give each participant assistance if needed, we are requesting that Annie programs be submitted as soon as possible. Instructions can be found on the TSO website, on the Programs and Service Projects webpage, and under Deadlines and Forms, April 1. We hope that each chapter will be represented in this fun and enlightening showcase of programs. The Program and Service Projects Committee Michelle Grandinetti, Chair 2017-2019

A great time to visit with friends!
