Line tuning equipment, associatedcoupling capacitors, and line trapsprovide an efficient means to couplepower line carrier (PLC) signals ontoa high voltage overhead transmis-sion line or power cable. Line tunersare also used in carrier bypass cir-cuits to route PLC signals around dis-continuities, such as transformers,breakers, and disconnect switches. The CL02B and CL03A are designedto deliver maximum power to thehigh voltage line at the selected PLCfrequencies and to attenuate unwant-

ed frequencies. All tuners provide avery high attenuation to 60 Hz cur-rents and voltages. An impedance matching transformer(IMT) in the tuner allows matching ofvarious overhead line impedances tothe low coaxial cable and equipmentimpedance. This provides a highreturn loss path, or low reflectivepower, in the desired passband rangeof frequencies. A low impedance IMTis available for power cable applica-tions.Resonant and wide-band line tuners

DESCRIPTION

provide a choice of frequency ranges andpower ratings in various coupling arrange-ments. The entire PLC frequency range, from30 to 500 kHz can be accommodated. Powerratings up to 200 W are available. Wide-bandtuners are available with up to five resonantcircuits for maximum coupling bandwidth forpower cables, and for use with small couplingcapacitors at lower carrier frequencies. Each line tuner is housed in an outdoor cabi-net.
