Welcome back to all of our Lindbergh

families, staff, and community! As we prepare

to begin another successful school year, weare keeping a very close eye on student enroll-

ment growth. More classes are reaching

capacity than in any year in recent history due

to aggressive increases in our student popula-

tion. In fact, we expect to add 464 students

by 2017-18, which will be enough to fill 23

    new classrooms.

    Our2013-14themeSpreadingOurWingsisareflectionof

these changes. For three years, Lindbergh has been the No. 1

K-12 district in Missouri for student academic achievement. We

also lead the state in interactive classroom technology usage, and

our character program is among the best in the nation. We arefueled by these exceptional programs, and they have made our

district a magnet for young families, but without the resources to

adapt to a much larger student population, we will remain stuck

on the runway and unable to take flight.

    ThatiswhyweareSpreadingOurWingstogetherandfocus-

ing on this fast approaching growth, so we can continue to pro-

vide the best education in Missouri to every child who walks

through our doors. Taking flight together will require support

from our entire community, to ensure that every student has the

    opportunity for a bright future.

It is a great time to be a part of the Lindbergh community as

we welcome more and more young families to our neighbor-

hoods. This year, the Lindbergh High School graduating class of

2013 was awarded 804 scholarships with a monetary value of

$13.9 million. Our hope and vision is to continue offering the

highest caliber programs so generations of local students can

continue to reap the benefits of a Lindbergh education.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Jim Simpson

and from the Foundations online auctions. Every dollar of everydonation to the Spirit of Lindbergh fund is invested in safe, high-yield accounts. Only the interest earned on these accounts is usedto fund the teacher grants, so each gift will continue to generateincome to fund these grants forever. Lindbergh teachers are among the bestequipped in Missouri when it comes tousing interactive teaching technology, thanks to an innovative and highly suc-cessful program called LiNC Lindbergh

Interactive Classroom.LiNC does more than just outfit class-

rooms with the latest tools; it also pro-vides teachers with ongoing, intensivetraining to help them use equipmenteffectively and prepare students for a 21stcentury global society.

Students in all grade levels bring theirpersonal devices to school, such as smart-

phones, tablets and laptops. Teachers tai-lor their existing curriculum to take advan-tage of these devices and provide studentswith opportunities to use them for furtherresearch and study.

Lindbergh teachers also are embracingtheflippedclassroommodel,anation-wide movement in education that makesclassroom materials such as videos, resource links and teacher-selected web-sites available to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The flipped classroomallows students to watch lectures andrefresh lessons at home, so that in-class

time can be used for hands-on, smagroup activities that are tailored to meestudents individual needs.

School districts around the state arlooking to Lindbergh as a model for howwe can best use technology to help oustudents be ready for an ever-changingglobally competitive world.
