(A twist on the usual Christmas story) All I remember was the crackling of the warm fire from the chimney, the delicious aroma of our feast, and the laughter and cheers of my large family that had all gathered together for this Christ- mas day. A soft blanket of snow covered the gentle hills from outside. I remember how the snow glowed against the pitch black sky as the first star appeared. We were all happy, all together. We would have never had expected that this night would end so early. We all sat around the warm fire and sang Christmas carols with cheery voices as the fires crack- led and danced. We all had our best dresses on that Mother made us. My two year old sister, Lucy, sat on my lap and bit on the candy cane she got. We all started singing See Amid the Winter’s Snow, rocking from side to side as our yellow lab’s tail thudded on my lap with the beat. I wore my newly knit scarf that I got for Christmas around my neck, laughing when Lucy started tugging on the ends of it hard. The aroma of pine that drifted from our decorated Christmas tree filled the house. We were all really excited with the big feast and new scarves, bookmarks, sleds, and embroidered handker- chiefs. We had a typical Christmas evening in the twentieth century when I was born. But soon after we started singing, a low whining dimly came from outside. We all instantly became silent as we lis- tened in onto the whining. Screams and thudding of horses’ hooves came from outside. Aunt Cindy ran to the window, returning with a horrified look on her face. “Invaders!” She cried, as we all scurried up. I held tightly onto Lucy, only to have her taken away by Mother who rushed all of us into a secret place underneath the house. Aunt Cindy opened the trap door and we all hurried in. Before even two made it in, the whining became louder and some- thing broke down the door to our home. We were all terrified. I didn’t even know what happened. One of the raiders on the horse came with a torch, setting the house on fire, then he slayed every- one in sight, blood covering everything like snow. Through the thick smoke and jumpy fire, I managed to stumble onto the house and onto the snow. Screams filled the background, but I felt all alone and scared. The ice cold snow and panic sent a shiver down my spine as I coughed after the smoke had filled my lungs. Then I looked to my right where a great light was coming from. Our house was on fire, burning up like our fireplace had done before. My heart thudded unevenly as tears blurred my eyesight. Neither Momma nor Father made it out, or Lucy. Suddenly, another raider approached me, the horse whining loudly. I looked up, completely de- fenseless and alone. The screams and burning houses around me started growing faint as the whole town turned to ash. The raider looked down at me with beady, black eyes. A wicked smile slipped onto his face. Be- fore I had a chance to whimper a plea, the raider brought up his sword and swung it down at me….To Be Continued in Our Next Issue! What’s Up Warriors? The Bermuda triangle, in the Western part of The Atlantic Ocean plotted by Florida, Bermuda, and

Puerto Rico, is a place of unknown fatalities of small fishing ships to cruising boats and small training planes to airline travel based planes, they all have disappeared without a trace of existence. Everything that goes in never comes out.

Flight 19: A group of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger Bombers were on a training mission. As the planes practice their flying maneuvers the leader radios the Station. "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white." A few moments later the Station lost contact with the planes. They sent rescue planes into where the last transmission was made. Another set of planes were lost. Magazines and Newsprint declared this occurrence to be a supernatural element.

Theory 1: Time warp. Bruce Gernon was the only person in the world to wetness what is inside the Bermuda triangle. Bruce experienced a storm at its birth stage; the storm was vir-tually on top of the water and goes up at a high distance. His reports say the storm was made up of white clouds on top of water. He proclaims he’s been in the eye of the storm and has returned to safety before the storm could become dangerous. His escape route was a Tunnel vortex. This storm was not a regular storm, but a Time storm! As Gernon was in the storm he saw a large circle that showed the other side of the clouds. But the White Clouds Radius was over 100 miles. He had no other choice; he went through the clouds

open space and actually traveled over 100miles and went forward in time for 30 minutes! This clouds open space was not a small opening, it was Time Vortex. Gernon says that as he went through the time vortex he couldn’t see the land or sky around him. He also says through the whole time he’s been in the storm radius all of his technology in his place were acting bizarre, from hi compass to his clock everything didn’t cooperate.

Theory 2: Electric Fog. After 31 years of Gernon’s research he has discovered when he couldn’t see the land around him he was actually in a fog that travels with the plane. Many ships and boats say they’ve hit a huge fog and can’t see anything, and that their technology is malfunctioning, but actually the fog sticks onto anything and it induces spatial disorientation, which causes the effect of not being to know where you are and even become confused. It has an electric current going through the fog and since the fog captures anything that hits it, as if it were a huge mouthed bear, the electric current travels through the craft and causes malfunction in systems. The fog is also the cause of no evidence of crashes. The fog begins to disintegrate anything in it to capture its electricity; but it doesn’t start right away the longer the craft is inside the more dangerous it is, after a while the fog just destroys the craft in a matter of 10 seconds.

Can these theories be true? Some people suggest aliens are the cause of disappearance. Or is the gov-ernment trying to cover-up the effects of nuclear bombing in the Atlantic? By: Jovanie D.

Zimmer 483 The band that created this CD is Tokio Hotel. It’s the second album. The CD is in German and is sold in North America and Europe. The CD was re-

Emotional disorder: OCD By: Brittany M

In the last issue I talked about ADHD. Now I’m going to talk about a disorder that has many of the same signs of ADHD, but also different. OCD or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a chronic mental illness. This illness contains repetitive behaviors or impulses. A lot of the time, there is constant fear or nervousness towards simple tasks or things. OCD has many signs. Some of them are distressing thoughts, images or fears (obsessions). There is also a lot of anxiety or nerv-ousness, sometimes for no apparent reason. One of the main reasons for OCD is the need to perform certain rituals or routines in daily life. Some common symp-toms are being very germ phobic, eating foods in a spe-cific order, constantly ar- ranging something if it’s out of place, being stuck on words, thoughts, images or emotions. This can be very disturbing and most of the time interferes with sleep. OCD people can get very easily distracted and take things very seriously. They usually worry about more than they need to. Even if the subject or topic has nothing to do with them, they make a very big deal of it and maybe end em-barrassing themselves. The treatment plan can vary from counseling to medication to mental hospitalization for very severe cases. Again, these people are no different from you. They deserve and want as much love and respect that you do.

Scream! Tokio Hotel is the band who cre-ated this album. The 1st album in English. Scream was released on June 4, 2007 throughout Europe.

Scream has some songs from their other albums like Schrei and Zimmer 483, but the songs are translated in English. Their first single was re-leased from this album was “Monsoon.” Mon-soon was and still is a very popular song. The CD went platinum 3 times! Sold more than 1,093,064 copies in 2 years worldwide! It’s the most popu-lar album Tokio Hotel has ever created. You guys should listen to scream, awesome album. By: Alejandra

Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days and nights, starting on the 25th of Kislev on the He-brew calendar (which is November-December on the Gregorian calendar). On each night of Hanukkah, the menorah is lit to honor a miracle which occurred after the Jews proclaimed victory over the Syrian armies in 165 B.C.E. When Jews came to rededicate the Temple-which had been dishonored by the Syrians-they found only one small flask of oil with which to light the menorah. This flask contained only enough oil for one day, yet the lamp

burned for eight days (by which time a fresh supply of oil was obtained). www.history.com Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in the United States honoring African heritage and culture, marked by participants lighting a kinara (candle holder). It is observed from Decem-ber 26 to January 1 each year, primarily in the United States. Kwanzaa is considered one of the primary holidays within the U.S. Christmas and holiday season. Kwanzaa consists of seven days of celebration, featuring activities such as candle-lighting and pouring of liba-tions, and culminating in a feast and gift giving. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwanzaa

Gingerbread Man Cookies INGREDIENTS 3 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter (room temperature, sof-tened) 1/2 cup dark-brown sugar, packed 1 Tbsp ground ginger 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon finely ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 large egg 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses Optional raisins, chocolate chips, candy pieces, frosting

Royal Icing

1 egg white 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice 1 3/4 cup confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)

METHOD 1 In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and spices.

Set aside.

2 In an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream

the butter. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Mix in eggs and mo-

lasses. Gradually add the flour mixture; combine on low speed.

(You may need to work it with your hands to incorporate the

last bit of flour.) Divide dough in thirds; wrap each third in plas-

tic. Chill for at least 1 hour or overnight. Before rolling out, let it

sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. If after refrigerating

the dough feels too soft to roll-out, work in a little more flour.

3 Heat oven to 350°. Place dough third on a large piece of

lightly floured parchment paper or wax paper. Using a rolling

pin, roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Refrigerate again for 5-10 min-

utes to make it easier to cut out the cookies. Use either a

cookie cutter or place a stencil over the dough and use a knife

to cut into desired shapes. Press raisins, chocolate chips, or

candy pieces in the center of each cookie if desired for

"buttons".

4 Transfer to ungreased baking sheets. Bake until crisp but not

darkened, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Let sit a few

minutes and then use a metal spatula to transfer cookies to a

wire rack to cool completely. Decorate as desired.

Work dough in hands for about 3 minutes or until you feel it’s nice and workable. (If the dough is too dry add a little bit of apple sauce, if the dough is too wet add more cinnamon.) 3. Sprinkle cinnamon on a dry clean surface and kneed the ball until it holds together. 4. Flatten the dough and use cookie cutters for shapes. 5. Use a straw end to cut a hole into the dough shape for the holding hole. 6. Once you have finished your ornaments put them on a oven safe pan or cookie sheet. 7. You can either air dry the ornaments for 24-48 hours or bake them in a slow oven. 8. (If use with the oven) flip over many times to harden both sides. 9. When dry, put a string through the hole you made. And then hang your ornament on your tree, your tree will smell like cinnamon, but do not eat them. By: Jocelyne

Why can holidays seem bad? Why do holidays seem to get worse?

Everyone has reasons. Personally I love this winter, holiday season.

Even if you feel like something’s missing, Just hold your head up high,

Because everything will be alright. Make the best of what you have.

Don’t dwell on what you don’t have. Holidays are meant to be fun.

As long as you spend it with everyone. Even if you want to just scream,

Aries This month you will be confronted by one of your peers and they will tell you off about your faults. You’re having the worst month.

Cancer This month you feel less competitive and ambitious about practical matters. You will be mellow and relaxed for the holi-days.

Quote of the Month Never let go of what you have. Never forget what you’ve had.

Memories last a life time, never forget them. From: Brittany

Weezer Crashes On December 6th 2009 the tour bus that con-tained the members of Weezer, and other pas-sengers, slid on a patch of ice when they were on their way to a concert. Their front man, Rivers Cuomo was hurt in the accident but is recuperat-ing. All their December concert dates are can-celled until further notice. It had snowed about two inches overnight. The roads were generally wet Sunday morning, but not covered in snow. The driver said the back end of the bus slid on ice, then went into the median and hit some reflective posts before crossing back over the highway, go-ing over the guardrail and landing in a ditch. We give them our hopes that they will get well. By: Gianna Dicintio
