    The Book is The Borrower by Rebecca MakkaiIn this delightful, funny, and moving first novel, a librarian and a young boy

    obsessed with reading take to the road.Lucy Hull, a young children's librarian in Hannibal, Missouri, finds herself

    both a kidnapper and kidnapped when her favourite patron, ten- year-old IanDrake, runs away from home. The precocious Ian is addicted to reading, butneeds Lucy's help to smuggle books past his overbearing mother, who has

Lucystumbles into a moral dilemma when she finds Ian camped out in the libraryafter hours with a knapsack of provisions and an escape plan. Desperate tosave him from Pastor Bob and the Drakes, Lucy allows herself to be hijackedby Ian. The odd pair embarks on a crazy road trip from Missouri to Vermont,with ferrets, an inconvenient boyfriend, and upsetting family history thrown

    in their path. But is it just Ian who is running away? Who is the man whoseems to be on their tail? And should Lucy be trying to save a boy from his

    2. Venue co-ordinator/operativeOuthouse wishes to recruit a Venue co-ordinator/operative who will haveday-to-day responsibility for the operation and development of the theatreand social spaces at 105 Capel St. The position is funded under theCommunity Services Programme. Position is part-time 24 hours per week.For a full job description email [email protected]

    TENI requires a part-time bookkeeper experienced with Excel to workapproximately one day per month. (The time could be divided up as one

    morning per fortnight).Basic tasks are: petty cash reconciliation, bank reconciliation, credit card

    analysis and cheque payments. We have no VAT, and no debtors as such; alltransactions are through cheque or e-payments and petty cash.

    We are flexible as to what hours and days would suit. Our offices are basedin the Gate Lodge of the Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups (North

    Brunswick Street). You would be working in a small, friendly office,supporting our work for human rights and equality.

    Surveys

    The LGBT Parenthood Survey is seeking to identify the experiences andneeds of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents and thoseplanning to be parents in Ireland. This is the first time that a study of this

    nature has been carried out in Ireland and our aim is to build up a picture of

    these experiences so that we can inform service provision and policychanges for LGBT parents and those planning to be parents.The findings from the survey will be published and widely disseminated toGovernment and relevant State bodies, NGOs and advocacy groups, both

    mainstream and LGBT, to assist them in effecting positive change for LGBTparents and those planning parenthood. The study findings will be shared

    with all LGBT organisations in Ireland and in particular support groups andorganisations to assist them in meeting the needs of the community

    We are currently looking for participants to complete an anonymous survey.You are invited to participate if you:

    Identity as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender person. Are a parent or you are planning to be a parent. (The term parentincludes biological and non-biological parents, guardians, adoptive parents

    and foster parents, living with or separately from our child/children of allages) Aged 18 years and over Living in the Republic of Ireland

    You cannot be identified by this survey and all of the information you giveus will be anonymous and confidential.How can I participate?If you are interested in participating, there are two ways that you cancomplete the survey.
