This 'Hands On' workshop demonstrates the first steps to take
when you receive and begin processing a historical collection. A
practical approach to processing a collection covering issues such
as cleaning, re-housing, storage of various types of materials and
other measures that have to be taken before the actual
arrangement and description of the materials begins. A panel of
archivists will demonstrate the very basic first steps to take when
processing historical materials.

of the powerful yet easy-to-use web analytics tool Google
Analytics. Participants will learn about setting up an account,
segmenting audiences, using drill-down reporting, and keeping
tabs on social media. Attendees must have a Gmail account and
access to a Google Analytics account, ideally containing tracking
data.
By the end of this program, participants will: Be able to
interpret website traffic patterns, spot trends, and export basic
reports.

3D modeling software from Trimble-acquired from Google-called
SketchUp. People have used Sketchup to build the 3D models of
buildings in Google Maps, as well as any other object they put their
mind to. With the current trend towards 3D printing, SketchUp
becomes a great tool for creating models that you want to create in
real space. Come learn how to use this great free tool to make your
ideas come to life.

Designed for non-cataloguers, this session focuses on using
metadata to facilitate both access to and preservation of digital
resources. Topics include Dublin Core Metadata Schema, the
develoment of a preservation metadata model, and using it to
store metadata. Examples of how to use Dublin Core metadata
with ContentDM software will be given.
