Maya and Ruben

The teacher passed out math tests to the class. The tests had grades on

them. Ruben and Maya showed their math tests to each other. “We both got

10!” said Ruben. Then the teacher passed out the spelling

tests. “I got a 10!”

said Maya. She handed her paper to Ruben and reached

for his. Ruben did

not give her his paper. He turned it face down on his

desk. He looked down at the floor. He was not smiling.
