SCOPE & PURPOSE:-

The calculations are done for the following purposes :

The purpose of this calculation is to determine the proper number of lighting fixtures for the required lux level.Yhe calculations have been done using CG Lux lighting software developed by Crompton Greaves Ltd.

ASSUMPTIONS :

For Indoor lighting:-

Work Plane height = 0.80 mCeiling Reflectance = 0.5 mWall Reflectance = 0.5 mFloor Reflectance = 0.1 mMaintenance Factor = 0.7

For Outdoor lighting:-

Maintenance Factor = 0.6

Note- The lamps are mounted 20m from the finish floor level on the tank

METHODOLOGY :

Lighting Calculations

Step 1:

Step 2: Calculate Room Index (K)Room Index:-

Formula :

K = L x W = Hm ( L + W )

Where :L = Room LengthW = Room Width

Work Plane = Desk or Bench Height

N = Number of Fittings

E = Lux level required on working plane

A = Area of Room (L x W )

Number in Length = Sqrt( Total x L/W )Number in Width = Sqrt( Total x W/L)

Understand the utilisation factor table that is available on most fittings:

The room index is a number that describes the ratios of the rooms length,width and height

Hm = Mounting Height of Fitting (from working plane)

The result of this calculation will be a number usually between 0.75 and 5.

Note :-This formula for K is only valid when room length is less than 4 times the width or when the valve is greater than 0.75

Using the room index and reflectance valves in the utilisation factor table

For the horizontal row select the reflectance that best describes the roomFor the vertical column select the room index valve K as calculated above.

The utilisation factor for this fitting in this room is where the row and column intersect

To calculate the number of fittings required use the following formula:

F = Total Flux (Lumens) from all the lamps in one Fitting

UF = Utilisation Factor from the table for the fittings to be used

LLF = Light Loss Factor. This takes account of the depreciation over time of lamp output and dirt acculation on the fitting and walls of the building

Space the number of fittings uniformly around thr room drawing and check the SHK nominal for trh fitting has not been exceeded

Work out the number of fittings required in each axis of the room
