Lighting of monuments in Zagreb In the very center of Zagreb, we illuminated monuments of Petar Preradović, Nikola Tesla and Tin Ujević. Petar Preradović Square was named after the Croatian Renaissance great man and poet, whose monument is in the middle of the Square. Petar Preradović Monument is from late 19 th century, whose pedestal is higher than the sculpture itself. Sculptor who created the monument at the end of historicism is Ivan Rendić. Pedestal of the monument is illuminated by four sides with round luminaries, while the monument itself is illuminated with one luminary in order to achieve shadows and plasticity. Nikola Tesla Monument is a work of sculptor Ivan Mestrovic (1956). This sculpture which we experience visually and tactile we classify in a statue because of its three-dimensionality and experience that is complete only if the statue is viewed from all sides. This is the reason why the pedestal is also illuminated from four sides what enables that the monument doesn’t look like it is floating. The sculpture shows statics and calmness because of the sitting position, and it is illuminated with one luminary in order to cause the plasticity of the statue and highlight shadows of the statue. 1 / 3

Static nature of sculpture and tightness of volume disrupts step forward of right legthat makes it dynamic. Because of self-denial and contemplation of this ingenious character, themonument is only touched by the light in order to notice its persistence. The statue stands on apedestal that is not an integral part of the sculpture, and that makes it more elevated and easilyvisible so that it stands out in the area.
