coming on the porch of my house.) A special thank you to Wayne Moore who
did a wonderful job installing it. Jerrie Frayser
I thank Jesus for my wonderful church family. I thank you all so much for the
prayers, calls and visits during the time of Gloria’s sickness and also for the
prayers, calls, visits, food and flowers at the time of her death. I love this
church family so much and Gloria did too. Ina Dooley
To our Church Family,
What a blessing and privilege to have such a loving church family. Words
can not express our sincere thanks and gratitude for each of you. The prayers,

A WORD FROM THE PASTOR... UPCOMING DATES FOR KIDS In Exodus 13, after Pharaoh has finally let Israel go free, the Lord leads them
to the Promised Land of Canaan, but the path He chose to take them was way
out of the way. 13:17 says this…”17 When Pharaoh let the people go, God
did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was
near. For God said, “Lest the people change their minds when they see
war and return to Egypt.”
The most direct route from Egypt to Canaan went through “the land of the
Philistines” where a tremendous army resided. So the Lord led them South to
avoid certain conflict with the Philistine army. Israel had no weapons, no
training, and no fighting experience. And so the Lord kept them safe by lead-
ing them South, away from the land of the Philistines.
The shortest and easiest path was due East, but it was wrought with danger
and peril, so the Lord took them on a different path.
Praise God that He still leads His children that same way. Many times we
never know what dangers the Lord might be keeping us from. And while His
path for our lives may not look like the easiest path, we can know for certain
that it is the best.
If God leads you South, don’t try to go East!
1 Corinthians 11:17-34 this week…The Lord’s Supper. Come and be a part
of one of the most special times of remembrance that our faith has.
Love you all, and I hope to see you Sunday! Bro. Chris

from home would bless her dearly and some
snacks she loves: pret-
zels, hazelnut coffee,
peanut butter M&Ms,
and Reese’s Pieces.
Christy Hart will be serving as a
missionary in East Asia with college students. Due to the
secure nature of the work there, we will be unable to send
letters to her. Please be in prayer for her over the next 8
weeks as she serves cross culturally.

As I reflected this last week upon Gloria Dooley’s passing from this life
into the presence of her Savior, I spent a little time reflecting on Matthew
25:14-30. It’s the very familiar passage of “talents” that we all know.
And I contemplated on the idea of faithfulness. Gloria Dooley had been a
faithful member of the Chancel Choir for 39 years and that faithfulness
was reflected in a full choir joining together to sing one of her favorite
songs on Sunday, “The Anchor Holds.” I would like to thank the choir for
giving of themselves to honor Gloria—she would have loved hearing that
song one more time. I think times like this give us the opportunity for
reflection and introspection in our own lives—how are we faithful with
the talents God has given us? I like to think about it like this: what have
we, will we do that will still matter 100 years into eternity? 100 years into
eternity, it won’t matter what kind of car we drove, what kind of house we
lived in, what our job title was, what we have obtained, how smart our
kids are, how well they have achieved in this sport or that competition —
all these and much more will be forgotten. What we have done for Christ
with the right motives will. So I began looking at my life — how am I
serving, how am I pouring into the lives of others, am I really following
after Christ? Am I denying myself (my dreams, my goals, my rights, my
attitudes, my desires) and taking up my cross and following after Christ? I
find myself seeing attitudes and desires that are getting in the way of fol-
lowing after Christ fully. How about you? Are you denying yourself and
taking up your cross and following after Christ? Jesus is still saying to
you and me—come follow me! And there is always a way for us to fol-
low Jesus more completely. These words in Matthew 10 from Jesus are so
strong: "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of
Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of
Me.” What a challenge but Jesus isn’t calling us to do anything that he
didn’t do! This is a true life of worship! See you on Sunday, Randy
