PRESIDENT’S REPORT It is with pleasure I present this, the presidents report for the 48th annual general meeting of Central Squash. It has certainly been a year of change and growth on all fronts. With a very new committee and administration, the District was at a cross-roads 12 months ago and had no choice but to look ahead, rebuild it’s base and plan for the future. District Plan and 2013 Goals After election, the new committee met early in the season, and set out some Goals for the coming year as well as resurrecting a District Plan and signing a MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) with Squash New Zealand. I can confidentially say we have achieved the majority of these goals. Briefly they entailed:

• Goal No1: Appoint a District Coach and create a Development plan with emphasis on growing Taranaki and Wanganui’s club potential. - (Achieved)

• Goal No 2: Computerise with Xero financial software the District accounts and budget to grow revenue. - (Achieved)

• Goal No 3: Set up the Central Squash Trust and establish the ‘Friends of Central Squash’ membership. Aim for 50 members by end of 2013. - (Half Achieved)

• Goal No 4: Run excellent and well supported Senior and Junior Prince Players series as well as Open, Junior and Masters District Championships. - (Achieved)

• Goal No 5: Improve District revenues through Trust grants and establish some sponsorship income. - (Achieved)

• Goal No 6: Grow overall Central club membership by 5% or 150 members across the District. - (Not Achieved)

• Goal No 7: Create pathways, training camps and Zone squads for Taranaki and Wanganui juniors, so the best talent moves forward into Central teams, widening the District’s base of juniors. - (Half Achieved)

• Goal No 8: Promote and support the regional Champions of Champions event, ensuring a well-supported and resourced group is sent from Central to the New Zealand finals. - (Achieved)

• Goal No 9: Hold a District Coaching and Referees’ Workshop/Conference, up-skilling our base of coaches within Central and identifying 4 new District referees in 2013. - (Half Achieved)

To get a 75-80% pass rate on these goals during year one is pleasing and there is a real feeling of a collaboration around the District. There seems to be a united push to make sure Squash grows in all corners of our District. The incoming committee will need to review the District plan and set new goals for 2014. Playing Achievements On the competitive or playing front, Central’s players and clubs had much success, including...

• Massey student Rebecca Barnett winning the New Zealand Junior Open title (for the second year running).

• Kaitlyn Watts dominated all in her age group, winning the New Zealand and North Island U13 titles, New Zealand AIMS Games Gold and capped off the season with being awarded a national AMP scholarship.

• In the Masters ranks, Wanganui’s Rod Bannister completed the double, winning the New Zealand and Australian 45-49 age group titles and was selected in the New Zealand Masters team that travelled to Australia.

• SquashGym’s premier women’s team won the prized Mitchell Cup in Auckland, New Zealand’s top club competition, winning after a 40+ year absence.

• National SuperChamps titles to Ohakune and Wanganui E grade teams while SquashGym dominated the Men’s B,C & D grades, taking 3 titles.

• New Zealand Secondary Schools honours went to Luke Jones, Courtney Trail and Emily Nash. They played and beat their Australian counterparts in a test series at Palmerston North.

• National Junior Squad places went to: Luke Jones, Emily Nash, Kaitlyn Watts, Corbin Faint and Courtney Trail.

• National Champion of Champions titles to Luke Jones (men’s B grade) and Annaleise Faint (women’s E grade).

• Our district’s top ranked players all achieved high national rankings; Kashif Shuja (No.4 and won the Wellington Open), Danielle Fourie (No.6 and won the Central Open), while Joseph Watts (No.10), Matt Nation and Rebecca Barnett, (although not ranked for insufficient results) all had fine seasons.

Operations and Finance With new administration at most levels of the game within the District, it is pleasing to report we have started programmes that will address some of the issues around imbalance and club strength, while growing and spreading the base of players and juniors. We have started engaging schools through Kiwi Sport and are training more coaches through our Coach Force funding. New District Coach, Jason Fletcher in his report, details what has been achieved and the plans for 2014. Financially it is also pleasing to report a surplus of $7418, while carrying out many new activities and programmes. Many thanks I would like to thank the people that helped manage and govern the district, namely our staff: administrator Pauline Slovak, Coach & Development manager Jason Fletcher and his fellow team of part-time coaches: Grant Watts, John Keenan, Kaye Elliot and Pete Mischefski. While on the governance side, our hard working committee: especially Treasurer Rob Brownrigg, District Captain Marilyn Dolan and portfolio convenors for Seniors Kent Darlington, Masters Mick Jack and Juniors Di Tasker with her support team of Andrea Herbert and Kelly Faint. The Taranaki, Manawatu/Wanganui and Ruapehu Zones also need acknowledging and my thanks to Zone presidents Mike Bailey (Taranaki), Sally Stantiall (Manawatu/Wanganui) and John Laurenson (Ruapehu) who keep interclub, tournaments and Champion of Champions events in check. You, along with the rest of the Central committee, really keep Central Squash running smoothly. Some interesting facts With growing enthusiasm and participation in all corners of our geographically vast district, I look forward to the 2014 season with confidence. Some numbers which may interest, show the size and real potential Central Squash has.

• The nation’s largest geographical district, spanning East to West coasts in the lower North Island. • Third largest district in membership within New Zealand (behind Auckland and Wellington) with 2300

SEM’s (Senior Equivalent Members). • Home to 22 Clubs and 66 courts spread across the Taranaki, Wanganui and Manawatu regions.

Approx 6000 players regularly use these facilities and play Squash (including club & leisure players). • There are a further 29 unaffiliated courts in use within Central. • Central clubs and members own approx $12M worth of club facilities, courts and assets. • The sport employ’s 8 people within Central including District staff, full and part-time Club

administrators, professional coaches and players. • Home to New Zealand’s largest squash club (SquashGym), but also to some of the country’s top

Squash schools and University – New Plymouth Boys and Girls High Schools, Palmerston North Boys and Girls High Schools and Massey University.

In Summary As a district, we have a good range of facilities through a mix of city and rural community based clubs, we are a financially sound District with development plans in place, we foster good relationships with our stakeholders and funders, and above all, we have great people at all levels running the game. In 2013 more people (even though numbers were small) are wanting to play and participate in the game – whether that be at junior level, school engagement, club memberships, casual or business house competitions or through to our district’s high performance rep players. There is activity happening everywhere. There is still much more to do, and plenty more potential, as our District bats above it’s weight contributing strongly to the national level of our sport. Finally, I would like to acknowledge all that contributed throughout the district, whether being a club administrator, coaching juniors, opening and maintaining your club facilities or representing your club or Central on the court. Thank you for making 2013 an excellent year for Central Squash. Grant Smith, Central Squash President

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER/DISTRICT COACH REPORT In an extremely busy year I can say there has been many positives and the district as a whole appears to be working a lot more cohesively and I look forward to taking this one step further in 2014. Kiwi Sport This is the first year, as a district initiative, Kiwi Sport funding for School Squash has been sourced and approved in the Manawatu and Taranaki regions. Previously clubs have applied to their local RST individually for funding and delivered their own projects. RST’s are now looking more favourably at regional projects rather than the individual club projects that have been funded in the past. The positives of this approach is more children can be exposed to squash and meets more of the criteria required by the RST’s which means more clubs can be exposed. To date this has been successful in the Manawatu region with an excess 1000 Intermediate school age children through squash programmes, with more to be delivered into term one 2014. The Taranaki project will start in 2014 with the launch of the SNZ Kiwi Squash Schools project. The key to the success of the Kiwi Squash and Schools projects will be the link between School and Clubs with active junior programmes. If your club is keen to work with your local schools please contact me to work out a plan for 2014. Coach Force In 2013 we were able to deliver a number of modules through-out the district in particular Small Nix and Big Nix modules. Unfortunately once the season got underway finding time to deliver more modules and courses became difficult. We have been successful again this year with funding to assist with the module delivery next year. 2014 we will publish a calendar of venues, dates and modules that will be delivered in each Zone. Modules now available:

• Safety Concepts & Get Started ( Online via Squash NZ website ) • Get Started 1 • Small Nix 2 & 2a • Big Nix 3 & 3a • How to Coach • Women’s • Hydration & Nutrition • Injury Management • Conditioning

A highlight for the year was delivering the Districts first coaching conference hosted by Stratford Squash Club. This conference was along similar format to the Squash NZ national conference which included team building exercises, coach education, referee presentation and coach exchange which included a sharing of ideas. The feedback was very positive and we will repeat again in 2014. Thanks to Kashif, Glenn Carson, Mick Jack and Stratford Squash Club with their assistance at the conference. High Performance The 2013 representative programme started with an early season training camp hosted by SquashGym and Massey University SRI and the second camp which was hosted by the Stratford squash club. Both these camps included an overnight stay, team building with on and off court training sessions. The feedback for the training camps was really positive and we are planning to ramp it up again in 2014. Thanks to all the squad members efforts during the season both at the camps and when playing for the district.

HIGH PERFORMANCE REPORT Our Central Senior team and High Performance programme for 2013 continued to move forward in the right direction after a programme was put into place in the previous year. This year our HP programme saw our Senior players involved in two squad camps, two One Day rep fixtures and the New Zealand Nationals. It was fantastic to be able to get together as a wider group with the aim of building up our High Performance (HP) programme this year and put Central Squash back on the map. The goal this year was to build up the ‘Team and Camp culture’ with the aim to also build good work ethics and team competition amongst players. The first Squad camp was a held in April at SquashGym and Massey where players were able train, eat and sleep at the institute, along with solid hitting and drills at the SquashGym courts. This gave an insight of what was to come for the year. We then travelled to play Squash Wellington in June for a One Day fixture. This was the second year that we have had these fixtures and it’s great to be able to give our players and those on the fringes some Rep experience. Unfortunately the team lost 14 – 10 in matches against Wellington. Two major points that didn’t help Central’s cause were our number two, Matt Nation ended up getting injured at the end of his first match, therefore had to default his afternoon game, plus we had four five set matches and none went our way. In this format, anytime a player gets a chance to close out a game then they need to do so, however the team failed to capitalise on the five set matches that eventuated and that hurt our chances. We then played Squash Eastern in our second One Dayer in the middle of July at SquashGym Palmerston North and again backed up the previous years win with the exact same score line of 19 – 5 to retain the Newbigin Shield. Two weeks later we had our final Squad Camp prior to the Nationals. This was again an overnight stay being based at the Stratford squash club and St Marys Diocesan School. This camp had our Men’s and Women’s team lineups that were heading off to Nationals and it was an exercise of sharpening up and preparing individually and as a team for the upcoming event. So the business end of the year saw the team travelling to Royal Oak Squash Club in Auckland for a brutal five days of squash where the players potentially had up to 8 matches during that time. In the individuals we had Kashif Shuja who was seeded number 3. He performed well and kept his seeding after beating NZ squad member Paul Coll in four sets for the 3rd/4th spot. Tom Nash put up a superb fight in the first round and just about caused a major upset as he lost narrowly 12/10 in the fifth set to the number 8th seed Chris Van der Salm. Regan Smith also performed well in the Men’s Div. 1, after being seeded 4th he got through to the final and finished runner up. In the Women’s draw Danielle Fourie was seeded 9th but after winning her second round match she was knocked out in the Classic Plate semi to finish 7th/8th. Three of our women were in Div. 1 with Jackie Tapp finishing 4th and Emily Nash the 10th seed playing well to take out the Plate Final to finish 9th. Straight into the team’s event on the Monday and after a reshuffle of the draws the Men’s team stayed 3rd seeds, while the Women’s team moved up one spot to 7th. The Men beat Eastern first up 4/0. We then came up against Canterbury the 2nd seeds in the semi-final. We eventually lost 3 – 1. The matches were close; unfortunately Kashif Shuja couldn’t pull out another win against Paul Coll. Matt Nation lost in four sets in a brutal match that saw three sets end up 12/10 and Joseph Watts lost to Chris Van der Salm 12/10 in the fifth set while Tom Nash dug deep to pull off another five set win. We then played Bay of Plenty in our last match and beat them 3/1 for 3rd place.

The Women really performed well in this year’s team’s event. They lost to Bay of Plenty 4/0 in the first round but then upset the 6th seeds Wellington 3/1 in the afternoon round. Jackie Tapp and Kaitlyn Watts both produced solid efforts for the team. Into the plate final they took on Waikato the 8th seeds and again finished off in style with another 3/1 solid win. Once again it was Tapp and this time Emily Nash playing great squash to round out a fantastic team effort. So overall a happy result for the players and management throughout the year. We look forward to building again on this with our programme in 2014. With a number of promising players coming through, it’s up to each individual to now strive and be the best they can. Hopefully that by being part of the Central Squads and our HP programme, players find value in the support we offer and a winning culture is created. We hope the team environment not only helps get team results but also personal goals on the squash court. We do however have to continue to do the hard yards, individually and as a team. A big thanks goes out to our Central committee for supporting our HP programme, to all our Representative players who have worn the Central colours this year and also to our two coaches Jason Fletcher and Grant Watts. Our 2013 Central Squash Senior team was: Men: Kashif Shuja (SPN), Joseph Watts (SPN), Matt Nation (SPN),Tom Nash (SPN), Regan Smith (SPN) Women: Danielle Fourie (SPN), Alison Whyte (SPN), Jackie Tapp (TH), Emily Nash (SPN), Kaitlyn Watts (SPN) Coaches: Jason Fletchers (SPN), Grant Watts (SPN) Manager: Kent Darlington (WG) A collection of Central Senior Team seeding and finishes at NZ Nationals.

DISTRICT CAPTAIN’S REPORT Another year has gone by with some great results. This year we had two Senior 1 day challenges with both Eastern and Wellington. Results of these will be covered under the senior report. Also the district juniors played Eastern in Hawkes Bay, these results will be covered by Junior Convenor. Interclub: Both Zones had good numbers in their competitions this year. Taranaki had 26 men’s teams and 15 ladies teams in their winter competition. Taranaki also held a J Grade Interclub with 13 teams participating in the two competitions. MWR zone had 16 Men’s Masters teams in round 1 and have 12 in round 2. The ladies have again decided to play as individuals and play at the one venue each week. Makes for great competition on court and in the kitchen. MacDougalls Rural Supplies again sponsored graded Interclub in the MWR Zone this year; we had 24 Men’s teams, 6 Premier and 7 Ladies. This was great as it enabled the Zone to give out prizes as well as banners at the end of the competition. Results from both districts Winter IC are as follows. Six sponsored teams competed from late July till September with the Manawatu, Wanganui and Wairarapa’s top 24 players playing in singles and doubles teams. iSQUASH ADMINISTRATORS REPORT Clubs have managed on the whole to input their results from Tournaments and club events without any problems this year. The Zones have made it easy with using the Interclub module for their draws and result inputting. New captains soon get the hang of it, and players were able to check up weekly how their teams are going, and point out any errors which were able to be corrected swiftly. Thank you captains for making things easier for the Interclub organisers. Next year will see a big change. Squash NZ are making huge changes to the grading list. There will be a combined grading list. You can find the chart on the Squash NZ website, but it will mean that the ladies will be listed with the men. A current C1 lady with 2400 pts. will now be on the combined list with 1300 pts. I will have a printed sheet at our AGM. There are a few other changes such as, automatic loss of points for inactive players; change of F Grade to sit parallel to J Grades; change of size and number of J Grades; change to the entry into B Grade. F Grade men will be sitting parallel with J1 and J2 boys, and E1 and E2 ladies. F Grade ladies will sit parallel with J1 and J2 girls. This change will help those higher graded women that have to play in the men’s draws for tournaments because there are no other women entered. In other districts the women are not entitled to play men competition unless they are B1 or higher, so this will make it easier for them to get meaningful competition. Clubs will need to put on their Tournament posters that there will be separate draws available for women. If there is any problem you can contact either myself or Squash NZ via their web page. Marilyn Dolan - District iSq2uash Administrator.

MASTERS REPORT After a couple of years without representation Central assembled a Masters team for the 2013 National Masters Championship. The team comprised of the following: - Ant Rountree, Jason Fletcher, Rod Bannister, Mark Gunning, Peter Souness, Grant Smith, Mike Jack, Kaye Elliott, Sally Stantiall, Aroha Beattie, Sherryl Curtis, Janice Trevathan and Jill Brown. We were seeded 6th in the team’s event, and were up against some stiff competition from Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury and Southland. Central were beaten by Auckland in the first round 8/2, round one winners were Rod and Janice. Round 2 we narrowly lost against Waikato 7/3, and had a couple of 3/2 results gone our way we would have tied the rubber. Winners were Rod, Mark and Janice. Round 3 saw a couple of mix and match up games within the groups, eventually Wellington beat us 8/2, winners once again were Rod and Janice and also Peter. Overall Rod and Janice came through the teams unbeaten, and must be congratulated for a job well done. Mark and Peter chipped in with a win each, with Ant, Jason and Aroha going to 5 sets on one occasion each. In the main event, Central came third in the Skits, voted ahead of Auckland, Wellington and Waikato, by a well educated and knowledgeable panel of experts. Had there been a dedicated training program at the start of the year I feel confident we could have made and even higher placing! - Oh Lord it was great being Central... In the representative Masters ranks, Wanganui’s Rod Bannister completed the double, and must be congratulated for winning both the New Zealand and Australian 45-49 age group titles and he was also selected in the New Zealand Masters team that travelled to Australia. 2014 will see the National Masters being hosted by Palmerston North, prior to that, the Central Masters is being hosted by Kawaroa Park in New Plymouth. Those players wishing to represent Central at their home national tournament will be expected to play at the selection tournament held at Kawaroa Park. Masters Squash is fun, just ask any one who represented Central at the Nationals in 2013, a good nights sleep is not guaranteed, and the squash will be hard! If you want to be in, then register when the time comes, we will select on age, availability, grade and commitment to play at the selection tournament, whatever the grade. Mike Jack - Central Masters Manager

JUNIOR CONVENOR’S REPORT  2013 has been another successful year in the junior ranks. The Junior Prince series was once again popular with the lower ranked players with a total of 137 players playing in the series over 14 tournaments. Congratulations to the winners Caleb Armstrong and Abbie Tankersley. In March Central took a team of the top 2 players from each age group from under 11 to under 19 to Havelock North for the annual challenge against Eastern, a total of 10 boys and 10 girls. This was a great opportunity for some younger and newer players to represent Central. It was topped off with a 21/19 win to Central. At the individual Junior Age Group Champs in October Kaitlyn Watts once again dominated her age group, to easily take out the under 13 girls trophy for the 2nd year in a row. Luke Jones played well to come runner up in the under 17 boys. Corbin Faint came 3rd in under 15 boys while his sister Annaleise came 4th in under 13 girls. Emily Nash came 5th in under 19 girls and Courtney Trail came 6th in under 15 girls. Our Nationals teams are in a development stage, particularly in the girls who are a very young team and will stay together for another few years yet. They were seeded 3rd and placed 6th but will look for improvement next year, as there is only one member of the team not eligible next year. The boys were seeded 7th and placed 7th. They lost a player to injury in the first tie, this put pressure on the remaining 4 players to play every match for the rest of the tournament. This is also a young team and has 2 members not eligible for selection next year. The Rainbow Challenge against Wellington was not played this year due to a change in personnel at their end, and this is now set down for early next year. The NZ junior ranking list at the end of the season sees Kaitlyn Watts at No 1 in under 13 girls, and Luke Jones at number 2 in under 17 boys. Jordan Bell, Annaleise Faint, Corbin Faint, Courtney Trail and Emily Nash are all in the top 6 of their respective age groups. 2014 World Juniors Squad members: Emily Nash, Luke Jones 2014 NZ Development squad members: Corbin Faint, Courtney Trail, Kaitlyn Watts There is a monopoly of players from our largest club; I believe that we as a district need to be aware of involving ALL clubs throughout the whole district especially at lower levels i.e. Prince Junior series and the Rainbow Challenge. Once they become involved the hope is that they will continue on to higher levels in the district. Thank you to all the parents and supporters for the contribution they make to junior players of all levels within the district. As my children are no longer juniors this will be my final year as junior convenor, thank you to those who have supported me in this position over the last couple of years. I wish the incoming junior convenor the best of the luck for 2014. Dianne Tasker – Junior Convener

MANAWATU - WANGANUI - RUAPEHU ZONE REPORT The Zone has run a successful graded interclub with the financial sponsorship from MacDougalls Rural Supplies. Many thanks to Brett McDougall for his generous support over the two-year contract. This sponsorship saw the introduction of “Captain packs”, cash prizes, spot prizes for winner and runner-up teams and financial aid for clubs hosting finals nights to provide supper. All of these things were greatly accepted and appreciated by all players. Central Squash increased the return of interclub fees back to the Zone; it is now a 50/50 split. This year the Zone introduced a bond scheme to cover the cost of, and deter teams from defaulting. This worked with there being very few defaults, but was very hard to manage and we will therefore be returning to billing clubs for the defaults incurred, and not be charging a bond. With the combining of the grading list in 2014 the Zone will continue to run separate men’s and women’s interclub. The Zone has been looking at ways to entice clubs to send more people to our meetings! We had a very poor turnout at our last meeting which was claimed to be from lack of people knowing about it, we are trying to address this problem, and therefore encourage all clubs to please ensure that they update their club information with the Central Secretary in the new year, to make sure that you have the opportunity to be involved in the Zone happenings over the season. I would like to acknowledge the many hours of work that Marilyn puts into keeping the zone humming along. She has been very supportive to me in my new role as Zone President this year. Marilyn is always available at the end of a text or phone call and has helped me to increase my working knowledge no-end in how things work, or are supposed to work, within the squash system! Please remember that we are all busy people, and give up our time freely to keep the Zone running, and we would love to encourage more people to be involved. Zone meetings are an opportunity for your club to have their say in what they think should be happening with squash across our district. Our next meeting is set for Monday 31 March 2014, 7pm at the Rangitikei Squash Club, Marton. I look forward to seeing lots of returning and new faces there, so together we can work towards the growth of squash across our region. Sally Stantiall – MWR Zone President

TARANAKI ZONE REPORT The past year has seen a few notable events within the Taranaki Zone as listed below. Interclub was well received, however it would appear that there are not too many new faces across the teams and clubs. This has to be a worrying trend for the Taranaki Zone and squash in general. On a positive note juniors have been strong at most clubs .The Zone and Central need to continue to work together to create a path way for the Taranaki juniors into a Taranaki squad then Central squads .I would also encourage Central Districts to continue its journey to establish a Taranaki based coach ASAP. The Disestablishment / winding up of the Opunake club. This is a sad day for the sport but is the unfortunate reality of our dwindling numbers, and in some instance; the unwillingness of people to volunteer to help their clubs and communities. It is therefore very important for the remaining clubs to work together to help each other, the forum for this is the Taranaki Zone, and I encourage all clubs to actively participate. The establishment of a junior interclub. A big thank you to Chelsea Aim and Jacinta Harrison of KP for having the vision and energy to get this up and going. The success has been evident in the enthusiasm for squash at a junior level across most clubs. A greater level of Central Districts involvement This has included Coaching Coaches Course, High Performance camp and Interaction with Sport Taranaki. Interclub will be run by the Waitara club in 2014, and the Zone wil be run by the Elthan Squash Club. To Grant, the Central President and Committee, thanks for your support throughout the last two years. Michael Bailey – Taranaki Zone President

FINANCIAL REPORT Another very busy year for Central Squash. With a number of new committee members coming on board this year we have taken the opportunity to review a number of aspects of how we do things. Like any business it is important to continually look at ways to improve. We must ensure we are working as efficiently as possible but more importantly ensure we are having a positive impact on the game at a club level. In terms of the finances, one of the changes we have made is a move across to the Xero accounting platform. While there have been a few hiccups in getting the new system up and running, most of these have been sorted and we are well placed for the years ahead. Pauline Slovak, also in her first year as Administrator has done an excellent job in securing funding throughout the year. Income from Grants and Donations was $36,117 that was a significant increase from 2012 ($10,000). Looking back over previous annual reports we are still some way off the $90,000 we received in 2006. This income is critical to our success so a huge thank you to the Trusts that have supported us throughout the year. A big thank you to Pauline also. We have recorded a small profit of $7,418 for the year after a small loss of $1,199 in 2012. Income from Affiliation fees was up slightly to $41,806. Along with income from Grants (as above $36,117) and Coachforce funding of $6672, which made up the bulk of income. We still have one or two clubs struggling to keep on top of Affiliation fees, but by and large, most clubs have paid promptly, which is greatly appreciated. The income from Grants was primarily for coaching and representative team expenses. The cost of sending the representative teams to their respective National events is always one of our major spends, and this year was no exception. Both the Senior and Masters teams travelled to Auckland and the juniors to Hawkes Bay. The travel and accommodation costs for all 3 teams were all but covered by Grant money (Pub Charity and Infinity) and players contributions, which was very pleasing. Also worth noting is the Rep team expenses includes $3,118 paid to Squash NZ for Travel Equalization backdated from 2012. As Central hosted both the Senior and Juniors Nationals in 2012, we had to contribute a significant amount to the Equalization Fund. Squash NZ have made changes to how the hosting of National events will be allocated in future years and it is pleasing to note that as a result, the Equalization Fund will be discontinued from 2014. Looking ahead to 2014 the committee are looking at making further improvements to programs and delivery to clubs and the continued support from the various Trusts will be critical to the success of these changes. Being my first year in the role, it has been a significant learning curve for me. 2014 will no doubt bring a new set of challenges that I look forward to. Special thanks to Grant, our President, Pauline and the rest of the committee for their support throughout the year. Rob Brownrigg – Treasurer
