Founded in 1996 and operating on a $40 million annual budget, the Van Andel Institutefocuses its genetic and molecular research on Parkinson’s Disease and Cancer.  The complex is divided into two collaboratives ‐ the Van Andel Research Institute and the Van Andel Education Institute – and boasts these key partnerships:

• ClinXus ‐ Partnership provides a single point of contact for clinical research clients, patients and physicians who participate in clinical studies.

• NCCS‐VARI Translational Research Program ‐ Collaboration with the National Cancer Center, Singapore focuses on the biology behind varying drug responses in Asian versus non‐Asian patients with specific types of cancer.

• NJMU‐VARI Antibody Technology Development Program ‐Collaboration with Nanjing Medical University, China focuses on the development of antibodies for clinical diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic applications for cancer and infectious diseases.

• Partnership with DeVos Children's Hospital in a fellowship program focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
