Challenge:

At 618 feet wide, 1,041 feet long, and over 100 feet high, the extreme size of the facility required a construction type that provides durability requisite for its intended use.

Solution:

JENSEN HUGHES provided Life Safety and Building Code consulting services and fire suppression design services.

Code review services were performed during the design phase

Life Safety Plans were developed and submitted as part of the building construction documentation


Building was provided with automatic wet-pipe sprinkler system throughout

Facility was also outfitted with an automatic Class 1 standpipe system


Assembly line inside the Boeing North Charleston Plant


Two new fire pump houses were designed to boost the available water supply for the building and site


During project construction, construction administration services were provided, including:

Review of the fire protection shop drawings

Field observation reports of the fire protection installation


Boeing employees work on aft fuselage for the 787 Dreamliner
