Grand Opening 4

Where the Lord has taken us by Alix Shattuck, Clinic Director

At Pregnancy Aid Clinic, we are susceptible—like any other ministry—to getting caught up in the day to day of meeting the needs of our clients. That’s extremely important, to be sure. After all, that’s why we are here.

But sometimes, the “day to day” can block our vision of what God wants us to do in one, five or ten years. And though we are excited about what the Lord is doing now, we want to continually improve and stretch to meet His call.

First stop

First to believe what God said through Jeremiah—He has plans to prosper our work, plans of hope and of a future. With God all things are possible.

Because we believe this, we dare to dream. We dream of meeting more needs than we can even fathom at this point. We also dream of new programs for men and women. We dream of covering Atlanta with the love of Christ.

When dreams come true

Dreams become reality when we put them on paper, pray through them and ask a simple question, “Lord, what do you want us to do in the future?” When we ask that, we narrow our focus to the next step as a ministry and plan—with His help—how to get there. And so we began to plan and ask.

It all begins

Achieving the impossible starts with a dream, a plan, and God. But we could not do this alone. We looked for those who shared our dream — people who believe that with God, all things are possible.

And we found YOU! You are the reason we can do this work each day and you shared our dreams and gave us hope. You supported us financially, prayed for us, and volunteered. And now, one of our dreams has come true.

With the addition of our northern clinic, we are truly covering Atlanta with the Cross of Christ —from Roswell in the north, to Hapeville in the south and the Mobile Clinic in locations east and west—we are convinced that His love will conquer!

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you…plans to give you hope and a future - Jeremiah 9:11

Courage can be shown in many ways

You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.— Aristotle

They met Saundra on the street in front of an abortion clinic. Believers in life courageously making a statement by standing with 40 Days for Life. They saw that she needed help. She did — a mother of 3, living in a shelter, and newly moved to Atlanta to escape an abusive relationship… and pregnant. She had an appointment for an abortion that day but could not afford to pay for it. She was desperate and did not see a way out.

The 40 Days for Life volunteers offered her kindness, compassion, and told her about our clinic and how she could get free services and a chance to talk about her situation. She came to the clinic and was enfolded in love. Saundra had a chance to talk to people who really cared and wanted to help. She had not felt that in a long time. We talked, listened, laughed, and cried. She felt like she mattered. She saw that these women, who had been strangers just moments before, were committed to supporting her and seeing her through this journey. She began to see that there was help and another way.

And then the ultrasound – she was 12 weeks pregnant and her baby put on quite a show! She saw that little one and decided that she could not destroy his life. She sat and looked at the pictures of her child and asked to talk again about adoption.

Saundra decided with courage and love to talk to a case-worker about blessing another family through adoption even as she herself goes into counseling and seeks a more stable family life for her other children.

Courage takes many forms but it needs help to be strong. You are that help to Saundra and her family. You are part of the team that offers priceless support….she and her child needed you! And you were there.

Pray for Saundra and her children, born and unborn. And be courageous—stand for life through your words and deeds!

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. Winston Churchill

#Giving Tuesday - The global day of giving

First Annual Evening for Life - September 24, 2015

Our Master of Ceremonies, Russ Spencer, opened the evening which included a talk by Executive Director, Marla Brown, a fabulous dinner, and the amazing story of our guest speaker, Melissa Ohden. Melissa held the attendees in thrall as she told her of surviving a saline infusion abortion in 1977, her search for her biological family and the beauty of God’s grace in our lives, the power of love and of forgiveness. She challenged all those attending to answer God’s call and never give up the fight for the unborn.

The night was blessed with the attendance of the founder, Jean Hess, along with past Board Presidents, Directors, and staff as well as members of the Order of Malta, Knights of Columbus, and supporters and friends from across the city. The evening was a great success and raised needed funds for the clinics.

Our grateful thanks go out to Father Thomas Reilly and the Catholic Church of St. Anne for the use of Nolan Hall; our Underwriters: Deacon Steve and Marie Swope Family Fund, Andrew and Tamara Bourne, and Ken and Julie Ostrowski; our Table Sponsors: Joe and Christine Travoto, William and Bardeen Dunphy, Dr. Steve Hamilton, Drs. Anthony and Kathleen Raviele, Deacon Dennis Dorner and the Archdiocese of Atlanta, St. Jude Catholic Church, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Brigid

Catholic Church, St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council of St. Brendan Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council of St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council of St. Brigid Catholic Church, Georgia State Knights of Columbus Council Prolife Committee, and the students of Holy Spirit Preparatory School who helped during the event.

And all those who donated and pledged for 2016!

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, and people will come together to celebrate generosity and to give. Join us as part of a new tradition of generosity. Anyone, anywhere can get involved in #GivingTuesday.

You can find information on our website at www.pregnancyaidclinic.org/donate.

Be a #GivingTuesday ambassador and spread the word about supporting us on December 1st!

Grand Opening of our new Northern Clinic

With Knights of Columbus honor guard, an official ribbon cutting from the Mayor of Roswell, and a blessing from Father Herlihy from St. Brigid parish, the new Roswell Clinic opened!

In just the first 2 weeks, lives were touched and babies saved! With the help of 40 Days for Life, clients are learning about us and several women have chosen life! Ultrasounds are so critical and we are blessed to have our ultrasound room fully outfitted with the help the Knights Council of Saint Bridget who provided a new ultrasound machine and the Knights Council of Saint Peter Chanel who provided the ultrasound table, television screen, and furniture.

Like the Hapeville clinic, this clinic has a boutique filled with new and lightly used baby items for our clients to earn through incentive programs. But this location has a twist – we are also open to the public. All the proceeds earned from this resale boutique will be used to support the mission.

The realization of this dream would not be possible without you! Your prayers and support made this a reality. Together we have opened a new front in the fight for the lives and souls of the unborn and their mothers!

Pregnancy Aid Clinic celebrated the grand opening of its newest clinic in Roswell on October 1st!
