Why, Why, Why?Cancer affects all of us. I'm no stranger to the disease within my family. I'm pretty much sure most of us could tell a similar story. We are in sight of making major leaps forward to prevent and treat cancers in this Century. Will you leave your fingerprints on ridding the world of this terrible set of diseases?

Life Aid began on the day when David Bowie died.I was called up at 7.30 am to appear on CNN News. As I travelled to London I was filled with a complexset of emotions. At some level I considered Bowie immortal. With a heavy heart I went to London, quite unable to foresee what was about to happen. After the broadcast, some friends contacted me about a tribute concert. Through further dialoguewith Patti Russo, songstress with Queen, Meatloafand Sir Paul McCartney and Queen’s Monitor Engineer, I decided to see if we could scale the approach to global proportions.

A World VisionWe will bring the world together to stage a series of benefit projects across 2016 into 2017 for Cancer Prevention and Treatment. This global phenomenon has the ambition to unite the world with cures, early diagnosis and improved care for these terrible diseases. Starting in the small market town of Devizes in Wiltshire, we will curate a large programme of music events around the globe. The finale in Summer 2017 will run along similar lines to Glastonbury. Using modern technology to reach the entire world, allowing every citizen to experience these events through monetised video streaming. This global act of humanitarian kindness will cast a long shadow on those that seek to divide the world and provide a humanistic legacy for those that lead, participate and sponsor the project.

Life Aid differs from existing approaches through its global nature (1000 + concerts around the world), its scale and its intention to produce superior returns for the causes.







How will this work?Small Beginnings : Life Aid starts at Devizes in Wiltshire on Saturday 21st May 2016 at the “Rock Against Cancer” event – see next slide for details.

A World Festival : Life Aid events will take place through 2016 at cities around the globe, organised locally to a strict set of guidelines: financial return to the causes; quality and diversity of content etc. All organisers must film their events to monetise them for Cancer Prevention and Treatment. People will attend concerts around the world in person or via live streaming or pay per view. This will be charged at different rates around the world, consistent with affordability in each country.

2017 Finale : Life Aid will culminate with a series of events to be arranged in Summer 2017, similar to Glastonbury in the UK. These large scale events will include major music acts from around the world.







From small beginnings …Life Aid begins with the “Rock Against Cancer” concert in the small English town of Devizes.

Featuring 10 CC, Suzi Quatro, Spike Edney’s All Stars Band (Queen’s Musical Director), Big Country and Marmalade amongst many others.

This concert is devoted to a collection of cancer charities and will set the tone for others to develop their own events across 2016 and 2017.

Through a 1000 events …Life Aid events will pop up all over the world and we will support their development in exchange for each organiser agreeing to produce a superior return to cancer fundraising and the filming of each event for video streaming / pay per view fundraising purposes.

Audiences will “travel the world via the internet”, picking their own personal online journeys through “Life Aid” and contributing to Cancer Prevention and Treatment whilst doing so. From a single concert pass through “all you can eat” tickets and so on.

Events may be musical, theatrical and artistic, but they will not be limited in any way. We are expecting individual organisers to customise their events, whilst fulfilling the essential criteria to use the “Life Aid” brand.

Events will be at three levels – what we call “Village”, “District” and “Country” – see over for detail.







Events on three levels

Village – Following the model of Rock Against Cancer, some events will be local in nature – perhaps accommodating 1000 – 5000 people.

District – More ambitious events will draw people from a wider area – from 5000 people upwards.

Country – The most ambitious events will be on a scale of Glastonbury et al, perhaps festivals in their own right co-branded with Life Aid.







To a grand finale …The finale will be a series of “Live Aid” styled concerts to be held at major locations around the world. Here’s just some of the people we’ll be approaching but it will be a collaborative effort. We’re thinking Glastonbury …

Which causes will benefit?We will target three issues with this project:

Cancer Prevention: Healthy living projects to reduce the risk of contracting cancer.

Cancer Awareness: Helping people detect signs of cancer early so that they can be better managed for improved survival rates.

Cancer Treatment: Fundamental research to discover treatments and cures for a range of cancers.

Organisations will be carefully chosen around the world against a range of criteria to maximise the impact of our fundraising on a mixture of short and long-term issues surrounding cancer.







Sponsorship requirementsInitial requirements

We need to set up a team of professionals for the first 3 months to: scope the project; develop websites; set company up and project plan; engage stakeholders; develop global publicity; gain sponsorship to secure venues; build a financial plan; engage delivery team; engage artists. This will be paid for through the Kickstarter crowdfunding project. See over for an outline budget that shows how we will use the money.

Subsequent investment and benefits

We will look for corporate investments to allow the project to succeed. A separate sponsorship pack outlining bronze, silver, gold and platinum investment / benefit profiles is available on request.
