Golf—Marion Renn (97250740) and Jim Dixon (0447 734 945)

Golfers were thrilled when the golf courses were re-opened in Victoria in May. Many of us have been walking around the walking track on the perimeter of the course, casting longing glances over the fence. It’s lovely to be back on the “other side” of the boundary.

Just before we closed down the golf due to the Corona virus, Jim Dixon our illustrious co-ordinator attempted aerobatics in a golf cart whilst we were away at the golf getaway at Korumburra. He has been hospitalised, rehabilitated at home with physio whilst wearing a “moon boot” on his foot. The good news is that he’s gone through most of this whilst we were shut down and so will not miss out on too much golf.

We’ve been playing social golf and not attempting to organise competitions so far. That will

probably change later in June as we settle back. At present the golf club is requesting that we

organise ourselves prior to turning up at the course. Jim has very kindly volunteered to take

phone calls from golfers who wish to book in for our Thursday games. Jim will allocate spots to

golfers in the order in which they ring in. Groups of four will commence at 8.20am and continue

at eight minute intervals until five group bookings have been filled. Players are asked to turn up

ten minutes prior to their allocated time. Once the five groups have been filled, would-be players

may be able to make a group of four with other golfers and book in whenever a time slot is

available. It will be a bit of an experiment at first.

Cheers, Marion & Jim (Co-Coordinators')
