    Introduction:

Tis is the rst testing o the website. It s just starting to take shape, and I wanted to know i I was heading towards the right path.Te testparticipants were the same people I interviewed at the beginning o thedesign process.

    Final TestingHi-f Prototype Testing

    Introduction:

Tis is the nal testing o the website.I dont have all the pages, butI tested with all the major components, and according to all threescenarios.I used the same participants again,so they knew what theywere doing this time, and it was easier to test.Te main purpose o thiswebsite is to minimize the disturbance in the home page or a noviceuser, and hide the extra eatures, and links or the advanced userswithin the home page. Also I tried to reduce the number o click, andredirection to a new page as much as possible.

Participant1:22 years old.Single.Has be been using library website for three years now.Writing Center utor.

    English major.Uses smart phone.

Participant2:24 years old.SingleHas be been using library website for past eight semesters.

    English major.Uses smart phone.

Participant3:24 years old.Single.Has be been using library website for three years.

    English major.Uses smart phone.

Observation:1. All the participants were able to identiy the navigation on home screen.2. Participants liked the new navigation buttons.3. Participants couldnt nd WorldCat site4. Participant wanted to access,University ilearn.5. Participant wanted a live chat open all the time.6. Participants didnt care much about the foor maps.7. Participants liked the idea o the My Library prole8. Participants liked grouping o items,in header and ooter.9. Participant liked the new search results.

Reccomendation:1. Keep search bar consistent on all pages.2. Make search results more prominent, and detailed.3. Live chat open in the pages instead o having to open a new page or it.4. Make worldcat site more visible.5. Appointments or research should be made easier.6. Make the page remember your prole.

    FinalConclusion

    Conclusion:

Te nal webpages are listed ater this page.I think I did solve a lot othe existing usability problems in the website.I wish I could add somemore pages to explain the concept urther, but this took me a lot otime, and everytime I designed a new page, it had to be explained byadding another page.Tis lead me to have so many dierent pages.

Although my test audience were all English majors,I ve designed thiswebsite or all majors, and rom novice to advanced users. It was verydicult to determine what inormation to show, and what to hide. Iwanted to make it simple, but I didnt want to take away everything sothat the user might have diculty nding research even more.

I tried to make the home as simple, and easy to read as possible, andhid all the other options around the home page. For example the nav-igation at the top has drop down menu which shows the users whatoptions they have in those elds.Tey dont have to click, and go to anew page to know whats in that tab. Also Te quick links at the topright corner lists all the options reqiured or other than research. It hasoptions to take you directly to the ilearn, email, so users dont have tohit back button or start a new page.

Te advanced search page opens in the same page, this reduced onemore click, and i the users dont want to use it they can just ignore itright there. Also I took the reccommendations o the users to add aseparate search or WorldCat site right in the home page, along withthe Journals, and Database searches.

Also I created a new unction called My Library.Tis option lets us-ers to keep track o all o their researches. However, users have to belogged in to use this eature.Tey can add, and delete projects. Alsothey can cite the materials right rom this page. It will also notiy userso the due dates.

Te search results can be expanded in the same page to see the extradetails, and they dont ahve to go to the new page. Also they can clickin the title to go they more detailed page so that they can get urtherinormations i they want.

    Learning Summary:

Once again I learned that a problem can be solved in many dierentways.I saw some o the other designs by other students, and they hadtheir own explainations or the designs. One o the most challenging, things to do while desining a library website is the management oall the inormations.I think the websites are crowded with all loto inormations or a reason. However, they look so cluttered in thepage, because they arent organized very well.Te best way to x thisproblem is to use the principle o proximity, and group similar itemstogether. My major source o inspirations were,University o Boston, and BYU library websites.Tey had solved the problem very well.

I could still use a lot o user testing,in my nal product, and get moreeedback. Also the prole page can be simplied a l ittle or may be Icould use some icons to create more space.I used texts so that usersdont get conused, and theyd know what each buttons do.

Tis was very lengthy process, and Im glad its nally over, but in themean while I think it made me a mature designer.I learned a lot romthe researches, and rom the group members.I wish I could make aworking prototype, and test it.
