• This short introduction to the library and IT Services (LIS) will show you some of the facilities that are available to you during your time here.

• The Digital Learning Environment: the Student Portal and Blackboard

• The library : Opening hours and general use of the library, searching for publications and house rules

• IT & Study facilities: Student pc’s, laptop provisions, printing, the wireless network

• The Student Portal provides you with access to your main study applications and personal information:

• Blackboard courses for which you have enrolled

• Course announcements

• My Study Facilities

- access to COMAP, your personal study guide, exam schedule and results.

• Your Tilburg University email.

• Blackboard is an important part of your Digital Learning Environment (DLE) and contains information and material relevant to your study:

• lecture slides

• literature

• links to video lectures

• assignments

• enroll for courses

• discussion forum

• If you require help with Blackboard or with your Personal Study guide, contact the faculty or the Student Service desk.

• Opening hours

• Monday – Friday 08.00 – 23.00

• Saturday – Sunday 10.00 – 18.00 *

* Service is limited after 20.00 and in the weekend.

• Collections :

• Level 0: journals (hard copy subscriptions)

• Level 1: reference collection (SB books)

• Level 2: books (ECO, SOC, JUR etc)

• There are more than 800 study places for students in the library.

• Search the library’s collection with WorldCat Local. An international, integrated library catalogue.

• You can find titles of publications, links to an electronic version and look up the location and availability of material in our library

• More than 200 databases can be accessed from the catalogue page.

Many books and journals are stored in a closed depot. Order them by clicking Request Publication in the catalogue.

• Silent areas

The second floor of the library is a silent study area with individual student pc’s. The ground floor (level 0) is also a silent study area.

• Group study areas

The first floor of the library can be used for group study or for sharing a pc.

• Drinks & snacks

Only water may be brought into the library.

• Student desktops time-out

Please note that the student pc’s will re-boot if left unattended for 15 minutes. Save your work on your own network drive (M:\drive) or USB stick

• Software

More than 40 software packages pre-installed

• MFP Printers

There are 9 multifunctional printers in the library. You can print, copy or scan documents in b/w and colour.

• Cost

Pay for your prints with a bank card or prepaid chip card.

• Tilburg University provides a wireless network

allowing you to connect to the network from anywhere

on campus.

• Access

Information on how to connect laptops or mobile devices can be found on the website

• VPN (remote access)

Virtual Private network software (VPN) provides you with remote access to the library databases.

Download the VPN client from the website.
