FebruaryHoli is the spring festival in the Hindu calendar and is also known as the festival of colours.As well as marking the end of winter, Holi also marks the beginning of a new year; a timeto mend relationships and to end conflict.

AprilSt Faith’s Anglican Church in the Māori village of Ohinemutu, New Zealand, wascompleted in 1914. Carvings (whakairo) and wall panels (tukutuku) adorn its interior, whilea stained glass window depicts Jesus wearing a Māori cloak (korowai). As the church isnext to Lake Rotorua, it appears that Jesus is actually walking on the lake.

JuneThe Dalton Natural Woodland Burial Ground in Cumbria is a place of natural or greenburial. It describes itself as providing a natural woodland burial as an environmentallysustainable alternative to existing funeral practices, where the body is returned to the earthto decompose naturally and be recycled into new life.

AugustUnitarian Bishop Bálint Benczédi Ferenc blesses the new bell at Sepsiszentkirályat inRomania, commemorating the 680th anniversary of the village’s foundation.

SeptemberOn the second Saturday of September the Ride+Stride event takes place across the UKfor the Historic Churches Trust and local trusts. It’s a sponsored bike ride, with cyclists callingat a number of churches - who often lay on much-needed refreshments, in support ofmaintaining our national heritage. www.rideandstrideuk.org

DecemberThe Unitarian movement in India in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills was founded by Babu HajomKissor Singh in 1887.

Send a Child to Hucklow Fund (SACH) wasstarted in 1961 by Rev Peter Godfrey and RevGlyn Pruce, to provide holidays fordisadvantaged children at the NightingaleCentre, Great Hucklow in the Peak DistrictNational Park.

The children are selected from agencies such asthe Family Service Units, Women's Refuges,Social Service Departments, etc., with no regardto religious considerations.

In 2016 children from across the UK will enjoy amuch needed holiday, entirely funded andorganised by SACH. The charity is run on anentirely voluntary basis and the Hon Secretary isErnest Baker.

All proceeds from the sale of additional copiesof this calendar will go to the fund.
