Binghamton got on the board first thanks to a David Thompson solo shot in the second inning, but New Hampshire answered in the third. Derrick Loveless worked a one out walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a groundout. That set up Richard Urena, who singled to left field on the first pitch to make it 1-1. The Rumble Ponies got a gift in the bottom of the third to retake the lead for good. After a one out walk, Luis Guillorme hit a bouncing ball to second that looked like a potential double play ball, but the grounder took an odd bounce over the second baseman‟s head to put runners at the corners with one out. Kevin Kaczmarski plated the go- ahead run with a groundout in the next at-bat to give the „Ponies a 2-1 advantage. The New York Mets affiliate added to their lead with a run in the fourth thanks to a solo shot for Tomas Nido and put up four in the fifth to lead 7-1 after five. Daniel Young pitched 2.1 perfect frames of relief and Justin Shafer tossed a scoreless eighth. Emilio Guerrero established a new season high with a second inning single, his 13 th consecutive game with a hit. His streak is the longest of the season for any Fisher Cats hitter. MILWAUKEE—The injury woes keep piling up for the Toronto Blue Jays.

On Wednesday, prior to their game at Miller Park against the Brewers and less than 14 hours after recording

his first major-league hit, rookie outfielder Anthony Alford was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a

fractured left hamate bone in his wrist.

The injury occurred on a foul ball in the ninth inning, a 2-1 pitch, after which he struck out swinging. Alford

heard and felt a pop in his wrist on the strike-two swing against Neftali Feliz but he finished the game, one in

which he the 22-year-old, as a pinch-hitter for pitcher Danny Barnes in the seventh inning, had ripped a hard

double off the centre-field wall for his first big-league hit.

After the game, Alford received treatment and the Blue Jays’ training staff took him for x-rays that revealed

the fractured wrist.
