In the news…
NCCC Professor Completes Disney Institute Leadership Excellence Program WINSTED, CT - April 17, 2018 – Northwestern Connecticut Community College Professor Valerie Royals attended the Disney Institute Leadership Excellence Program at Walt Disney World from March 27 - March 30, 2018. This intensive, multi-day experience focused on identifying and developing leadership skills that can enable a manager to establish, operationalize, and sustain organizational values and vision.
This program allows participants to apply insights about leadership to one’s organization by completing experiential, verbal, and written instructor-led activities; discussing and challenging concepts with peers and facilitators; participating in field experiences; interacting with guest speakers; and assessing an organization’s state through independent and shared adaptation sessions.
Professor Royals stated, “This was one of the most valuable professional development activities in which I have ever participated. The instructors were outstanding and the course material was well organized and very informative. I can share the valuable knowledge and insights that I learned with my students when I incorporate these strategic lessons into my Business Communication, Management, and Human Resource Management classes.”
Professor Royals is the Chair of the Business and Computer Technology Department at NCCC and has been a business educator at the College for over 30 years. She was the recipient of the 2017 Educational Excellence and Distinguished Service Award that was presented in recognition of her contributions to the college community and her commitment to educational excellence.
The Northwestern Connecticut Community College Business and Management Administration Program is committed to creating critical thinkers and principle -centered organizational architects. Business is about managing risk and change. Northwestern degree candidates face the rigors of a business education that focuses on combining traditional business modalities with creative simulation and communication technology to produce graduates who are consensus builders and leaders.
